Roko Ukic signs with Toronto Raptors.
Roko is currently the number 1 point guard in all of Europe, and came over to fill the void of TJ Ford leaving.
It's rumored he signed a two year contract with the Raptors, and it will be announced soon.
Roko's style of play is very similar to Jose's. He is a pass first point guard, with starting potential, who has the ability to average 10+ assists a game in a few years. His style of play is said to be better suited for the NBA then Europe. He is 6 foot 5, and slashes to the basket faster then TJ ford, who is one of the fastest PG's in the NBA.
Roko's one downfall is occasionally he waits to long to distribute the ball, which won't be as much of a problem in the NBA. He also has a tendency to slow down the plays when its not needed, but it can all be worked on.
Jose will be starting PG with Roko coming off the bench. The Raptors are hoping by 2009, and some development with Roko, they will essentially have two Jose Calderons and once again the best PG line up in the NBA.
The Raptors will still have 3 million left in cap space, which can be improved with some key trades this off season, to bring in a high quality swingman to round off the team.
BC has said he wants one of the all-stars up for grabs in 2010, to go along with Bosh (who will hopefully re-sign) and Jose. This is why he is loading up on 2010 expiring contracts, and signing players to two year deals.
