Yeah he is, as much as I hate the leafs. They have a gritty team, that will be annoying to play. Kessel brings pure goal scoring power to that team, too bad he's doesn't have much more to his game.

I'm looking forward to a mini leaf/flyer feud this year.

i wouldn't expect him to deliver last year's totals without a savard-like player at center. the leafs don't have that player. solid building block though.

He is also 21 years old. 21 and already has two 30+ goal seasons. Grabovski will make a decent linemate for Kessel, although not on the level Savard was. Even though the price tag was high with two first round picks and a second, its tough to argue that he isn't worth it. Tons of scoring ability, 21 and he wants to be a leaf.

Brian Burke has done a good job so far IMO.

You know what? Screw it!
I'm gonna show some balls and finally pick the SJ Sharks for once. Yeah they'll probably let me down but I figure they've got to win it eventually so what the hell. I'll say the Sharks over the Bruins or Penguins in 7.

Also, I think the addition of Kessel along with the added grit Burke added to his team will boost the leafs into a playoff spot for the first time since the lockout.

Leafs and Sens are my surprise picks. I say they both make the playoffs in the east.
Kovalev will turn heads with Alfie and Spezza and make Ottawa's pp one of the most feared in the league, and LeClaire will finally show the consistency that made him a top 10 pick.

Wish the B's could have kept Kessel, BUT i think 5 years 27 mil is a bit much for him. Don't get me wrong i knwo he's young, and i know he's a good player, great scorer. But that's a lot of money for a player who hasn't shown GREAT consistency. I'm not hating him on the way out, i like Kessel, i wish the Bruins could have kept him. But business wise it seems to be the right decision, and 2 first rounders and a 2nd is a good deal in return.

And i don't care how many 8 balls and 30 racks Theo Fleury puts down, he will always be the man to me. One of my heroes (hockey wise) growing up, i really hope he somehow gets a chance to play this year...

i say it every year, but this year i think there is a great chance. Flyers will take the cup. Of course this means they have to beat Detroit who as always will win the west.

as per the kessel trade, its all fine and dandy, but the kid will not put up the same numbers. first off hes out half the season this year or some shit like that. he is playing with a crappy team, and will have to deal with IMMENSE pressure. I think he was a great pickup dont get me wrong, but he is not a savior by a long shot. that team still has a LOOOOOONG ways to go before they become respectable. they have taken great strides so far but they need to continue to do so.
