You want regular season stats to show who was the better team this year... How about 102 points > 95 Points. 1st place > 4th place 2 Seed > 6 Seed 47 wins > 42 wins 216 GA > 233 GA

But Flyers beat the Pens 5-3 overall during the season....
And Flyers beat the best team in the East last round...
Regular season means nothing buddy

The Canadiens looked like crap in the playoffs. It took them 7 games to defeat a 94 point Bruins team. Price was not nearly ready for the pressure and was even pulled from a start against the Flyers.
I know regular season doesnt matter for much come playoff time, but it is stupid to just discount it all together. The Pens were a better team during the season and have been a better team during the playoffs, going 8-1 so far.
The Flyers are a good team, made obvious by the fact that they are in the EC finals, but the Pens are the clear favorite. Biron has been good, but not great. Fleury has out played him, and anyone who disagrees is blinded by something.
And if Philly fans are happy with a 77% PK (4th worst in the playoffs), allowing 57 PPs and allowing 13 PPGs in 12 games (worst in the playoffs) then I am happy for them.

Exactly, the Flyers have played MUCH better opponents throughout the playoffs and only had to play 3 more games.
Also during the regular season the Flyers scored more goals than the Pens, I think only 1 more but that is without a 50 goal man in Gagne. Not to mention the rediculous lines from John Stevens which make Pat Quinn seem like a genious hahaha.
For the loon that thinks i hate crosby because he is talented I dont, i really do respect his game for his ability to shoot the puck and create some amazing plays. fact of the matter thought is he is a disgrace to the sport. Its players who dive or get absolutely fake penalties called against them that ruin the integrity of the sport. how is a sport supposed to survive and grow when their is clear preferential treatment? Crosby is not the only one though, Forsberg was notorious for flopping around like a bitch to draw penalties so don't think its some homer rant because I booed Peter as well even when he was a Flyer.
If the refs call the games properly and don't let the theatrics from Crosby or Upshall cause bullshit powerplays this series can be a real war. If they go whistle happy than these games will quickly progress into soccer matches were everyone goes down from anyone even leaning near them.
The Pens have a great youth core and should be contenders for a while, but like always once that core is gone, they will bottom feed for 5 years in order to put out their amazing product again. 9/10 pens fans nowadays are bandwagoners, it seems like we have some actual fans on Sherdog and for that I commend you guys.
Looking forward to a great series, if we win I'm happy, if we lose, I'm still happy cuz Detroit is taking the cup in 4 no matter which team they play. This series will give birth to a severely injured team.
This is going to be my final post on the preseries, and i will just be commenting on games from here on in

I'm a Sharks fan. Too bitter and beat up to watch the Western Conference finals.
But this Flyers-Penguins series is what hockey is truly about. I don't care who wins because I like both teams but this will be nasty.
If Sidney gets through this he will have proven something to me. This isnt about stats...this one is about heart because this one is personal.
Philly plays a lot like Bernard Hopkins. In your face from Round 1-12. Unapologetic about everything and even at the end of the fight they're ready for more.

There were 10 points separating the #1 and #8 seeds this year. If you think there is any playoff team that is far and away better than the others you are deluded.
It is absolutely impressive that you can discount the Habs being the #1 team in the eastern conference in one breath, and then mention how the Pens were the better regular season team in the next. That deserves some sort of award.
I don't dispute that the Pens will be the favorites. I don't think they are clear favorites, though. This isn't going to be a one-sided series. And if you don't think that Biron has been stellar this playoff, then there is something that is blinding you.
The Flyers PK has been more than fine this season. They've played against the #1 and #9 ranked powerplays in the league, and if you take away a ridiculous 5 minute boarding major, their PK percentage jumps to over 80%. 12 games is such a small sample size and anyone who focuses on the percentage after that many games rather than at how the PK actually looks is loony.
Otherwise, great analysis.

Niiiicee.
A lot of people are underestimating The Flyer's 4 good young lines because of Hossa/Sykora/Malkin/Crosby. Keep plugging. More people are willing to jump in your face, and tell you your wrong when your betting on the underdog.
There hasnt been THE goaltender of this playoffs, like there normally is, but if we had to pick, it would be Biron. And a hot goalie in playoffs is the most dangerous thing. I'll cheering for the Flyers- Because I think its an eaiser win for Detroit.

It's easy to call me bias, but the Wings have been the best team bar none. They walked over the Avs and we're clearly the better team of every game in round one. Best defence, highlight goals and Ozzy is unbeaten. But we've also played lousier teams... But that don't matter. Wings have been playing the best hockey thus far.

You gotta figure the eventual new Leafs GM would wanna bring in one of "his" guys to coach the team, and as much as Maurice is a talented coach given a mess to try and work with and I think he is a likeable person, he still got nothing done in Toronto and so a coaching change was in hand either this summer or next.
