Did you guys hear that the Russian National Team at the World Championships told Alexie Kovalev that he wasn't invited to the team becauase he 'wasn't fast enough'.
WTF?
After the Habs were eliminated he wanted to play for them in Halifax/Quebec but they said no. What the hell kinda organization are they running there anyways?

The Flyers probably have more offensive depth but they haven't been as stellar in the postseason as many Philly fans want to believe.
Biron has made some great plays but he is still statistically playing the worst of the 4 remaining goalies (Turcco and Fleury and Osgood wrestling at the top and Biron at the bottom). And the Flyers are a physical team but they aren't a dominant physical team like some Flyer teams of the past. They are allowing a good number of shots per game and are not clicking on the PK (3rd worst in the EC playoffs and most power plays allowed in the East.
People were saying that the Pens would be out matched physically against the Rangers but they weren't. The Pens have some very physical players in guys like Orpik, Roberts, Gill, Ruutu and Laraque.

Finally someone with some sense. The Flyers haven't been that good in these playoffs, not playing as well as the Penguins IMO.

sigh........ ok lets go over this one more time folks...
Flyers so far in these playoffs have scored more goals, have more assists, more points, less PIMS, better +/-, more PP goals, more shorthanded goals, almost 100 shots more, and a better faceoff win %.
if you want me to shut you guys up with season stats or even all time stats i can do that as well. the fact of the matter is, the flyers have been, currently are, and always will be a better team.
this series will be a war and it will come down to how much the refs protect Cindy. wether your a pens fan or not everyone has to admit that not only is that ***got a disgrace to the sport with his unsportsmanlike conduct on the ice. sadly though the refs tend to let his dives go uncalled. theres actually a rule in the NHL rulebook which makes Crosby a prime target for suspensions, however since his bullshit is never called well... he wont be getting his suspensions this season.

wow, I thought your other posts were homer rants, but this one takes the cake.
The playoff stats you talk about should be higher because they've played 3 more games than the Penguins so it's hard to argue those.
Bottom line is that their defensive stats are not good in these playoffs, and the Pens have been better defensively and getting better goal tending and are pretty even PER GAME in offensive production to the Flyers.
I'm not even going to go into the boo hooing about Crosby taking dives. If he wasn't such a strong skater then he wouldn't draw so many penalties. The Flyers don't have any players that are even close to being as good as Crosby, I'm sorry that your jealousy of one of the best in the world has turned you into a hater.

You provided exactly one stat that isn't directly dependent on the number of games played, and that was faceoff %. And I cant look up playoff PIM right now, but the Flyers have allowed more PP chances than any team in the Eastern Conf playoffs.
You want regular season stats to show who was the better team this year... How about 102 points > 95 Points. 1st place > 4th place 2 Seed > 6 Seed 47 wins > 42 wins 216 GA > 233 GA

You're not giving the Flyers any credit.
Their power play has consistently scored goals this post season. They've also been very timely goals, rather than garbage goals.
Their penalty kill has been much more effective than their % or ranking suggests. They've gone up against the #1 and #9 overall units so far, and I have been happier with their PK unit this post season than I was when the finished in the top 10 during the regular season.
Biron's been playing better than his stats would indicate. I've watched a ton of these playoffs and he has been as great as anyone else still in there. There has been no shortage of great goaltending these playoffs.
The Flyers are still prone to defensive lapses at even strength where they get caught running around their own end. They will have to limit that vs. Pittsburgh because Pitt will take advantage of those opportunities where Washington and Montreal could not. However, the Flyers throughout the playoffs have done a very good job of keeping their opponents' shots to the outside. The lopsided shot totals don't indicate how well this team has been defensively.
Keys to this series will be the Flyers ability to key in on Malkin and Crosby while receiving the same type of goaltending that Biron provided them through rounds 1 and 2. I'm not ready to make the Flyers the favorite in this series, but I'm not ready to make Pittsburgh the favorite either.
I think this is going to be a 6 or 7 game series, a war, and by far the best hockey we see in the 2008 playoffs.
