Nice to see the Stars gain some momentum. I still don't see them winning the series (no way a team as good as Detroit drops 4 straight) but they seem to have found something with the matchups and Turco is playing much much better.

Turco played very well. Good for him, he earned that win. The Stars arnt gonna back down boys, pull the trigger in Dallas

I thought that was a pretty bad game for the Wings. Lots of turnovers, which is unlike them.

From the players who got time with the big club this year, we've got minimum the following up for renewal:

Umberger, Carter, Jones, Smith, prospal, Modry, Thoreson, Potulny, Ruzicka, Dowd, Boulerice, Cote

I'd like to see Umberger, Carter, Jones, Thoreson, Dowd, and Cote all brought back. Unfortunately, that's gonna be impossible without trimming some salary from elsewhere in the lineup (specifically, getting rid of Knuble, Hatcher, Smith, Kapanen). It's all conjecture at this point, though, but I think Homer is a great GM and I'm confident that the players he brings back will be the right ones.

As for Smith's return to Philadelphia, there is no shot. Great competitor, but he's a little old and at this point, probably the weak link on the Flyers blue line.
I can pretty much guarnatee that Umberger is sent packing as he is looking for 3mil a season and isnt even close to worth it, no matter how good his playoffs have been.

Flyers will resign Carter at 4-5mil, Jones at 1-1.5 mil, Thoresen at 800k-1mil, Potulny at 1mil, and Cote will get league minimum.

Umberger, Smith, Prospal, Modry (thank god), Dowd and Boulerice will all be gone. Prospal has to leave if Gagne returns. Umberger isn't worth his demands, Smith is over the hill and taking up space, Modry is was and always will be a waste of space, Dowd will get replaced with Potulny and Boulerice will hopefully retire and goto jail.

Umberger will be replaced by Giroux, Smith will be replaced by however Umberger is traded for (likely Rosie will be traded with him), Prospal by Gagne, Modry by Parent, Dowd by Potulny as already mentioned, Boulerice was replaced by Cote or Downie whichever way you look at it.

Flyers will likely lose Hatcher as well in the back.

Our defence is weak as is, but next year being the beginning of our cup run teams shoul be pretty nice.

This is what I am hoping for

Timonene-Coburn
Hainsey-(Decent skating dman aquired for Umberger and Rosie)
Parent - Kukkonen

(you will notice there is no Jones on that list, and thats because I am hoping somebody stabs him to death in the offseason)

The main thing we have to do is make sure we leave enough room for next off season as thats when Upshall, Knuble (let him walk), Lupul, Kapanen (please retire), Kukkonen, and both goalies go FA. Not to mention the season after we are looking at Parent, Coburn, Giroux and Downie all hitting UFA (ie Kevin Lowe's wet dream). Coburn will easily command 5mil, Giroux can break out, and Parent one of the best shutdown dmen Canada has ever produced out of what I have seen out of him. Luckily Downie will likely remain in his banger role and won't get a good pay raise due to the fact that we don't let him play.

Yes, let's see Sid drop the gloves in the round before the championship. Breaking a hand would be such a good idea at this time of year

They are close friends off the ice, it was nothing personal just Mike trying to draw the Pens into flyers hockey... which worked.

It would be better than getting slashed about 8 times in the knee within 10 seconds no?

I do think he is getting to the point of needing to retire, but it seems your post is quite reactionary to the one bad game and that = retire right now?

Much love and respect for Chelli but you're right, this needs to be his last year. Lets get him a Cup and let him lead the parade.
