when I hear people talk about greatest receivers, I never hear his name mentioned. when I played football, I wore #80 and people would say, "jerry rice?" and I'd say "no, steve largent." then they'd say, "who?" and I'd cry a little inside.
he had some of the biggest records a receiver can hold- receptions, touchdowns, consecutive games with a reception, etc. before getting passed up by the new breed of nfl players and being largely forgotten about by the younger generation of football fans.

of course, I'm majorly biased because I grew up in seattle and watched the seahawks religiously from their tumultuous years in the early 80's through their first zenith in the late 80's (first AFC championship in '88) then back down to mediocrity in the 90's...
I always enjoyed watching largent. he'd score a touchdown then just lay the ball in the end zone or carry it right over to the ref... no ridiculous celebrations or anything like that.
