Leafs buy out Tucker , Place Wellwood and Raycroft On Waivers

Toronto Maple Leafs have bought out Tuckers contract , he had 2 years at 3 million per i belive. That means the Leafs will take a 1 million per season hit on their cap for the next 6 years. They also placed Wellwood who is a RFA and Raycroft on waivers.

Sad to see a guy like Tucker go out like this , he plays with heart and emotion and often plays hurt ,i was hoping the leafs would give him another season as he started to pick things up in the last 25 games last season. He will not have trouble finding work as im sure any other team would love to have him at a lower price. Wellwood is a bit of a suprise as he is a very skilled player and looked to be a good fit in the new NHL ,he is just injury pron and seems out of shape most of the time ,im a bit suprised with that move i must say.And theirs no suprise with Raycroft goin on waivers as he just wasnt working out in Toronto and with Toskala their as the clear #1 and among the best in the league theirs no point having his salary as a backup, he might be picked up if not he will be demoted to the minors.

Looks like the leafs are cleaning house and gonna rebuild with some young talent ,its about time . They have the right coach to work with younger players andit should be a fresh look come OCT.

I;m happy to see Tucker, wellwood and Raycroft gone. I wanted htem all gone last year. Wellwood has no heart, raycroft..well hes just soft, and Tucker just doesnt have the skill, and lays on ground to much after gettin hit

GO LEAFS GO!

I'm not a leafs fan, i'm a boston fan. But i LOVE the way Tucker plays the game. Seriously. He's all heart.

I've never been a fan of Tucker, but he worked hard. I thought there was room on that roster for Kyle Wellwood. Damn. Leafs are doing the full re-build.

Good, I'm no Leafs fan but it's nice to see they, the Buds, are activly trying to get better.

Although Tucker wasn't the problem. As far as Wellwood & Raycroft go, no big deal. Hopefully the rumors of the Leafs buying out Kubina will be true too.

It's time for a complete over haul in TO, time for some new blood. It's a shame that a franchise with the history of the Leafs have missed the playoffs for 3 strait seasons.
