Not a legend quite yet but definitely an all time great. As stated before, he needs a championship as "the guy" since his 3 previous titles came while with Shaq who was considered "the guy" or at least the emotional leader of that squad. If Kobe wins this year or whenever as the leader of the Lakers on and off the court, he makes his case for the 2nd greatest off-guard in history (1st being Micheal).
With the Hakeem discussion, hes the 4th greatest behind Kareem, Wilt, and Russell. Hes better than Shaq since he was more skilled and was still as much a dominant force defensively. He is behind the Big 3 since they have a bigger "aura" around them and won more than Hakeem did. It may not be Hakeems fault since he played for a weak squad for so many years in Houston and you had MJ dominating the game all those years, but thats the case...

extremely impressive

The Bulls still won 55 games without Jordan. I don't see the Lakers finishing .500 without Kobe. Same goes for the Cavs without Lebron.

In 1986 and 1987 the Celtics swept the Bulls from the playoffs in both years. Hardly almost beating the celtics single handed when he got swept from the playoffs two years in a row by the Celtics.
