Knicks get D'Antoni

Great move by Donnie Walsh to bring in one of the best coaches in the NBA.

They still have a lot of work to do. They need to get rid of the ridiculous contracts of Francis, Marbury, and Curry.

Great move. Although I think Walsh will be the key to any resurgence the Knicks make, D'Antoni can't hurt.

lol at people being excited by this. Decent coach + soft demeanor + crappy personnel + salary cap issues + new york pressure = .... three more seasons of 20-30 win basketball and a contract buy out. Enjoy that.

No problem, the Knicks are finally going to rebuild. Isiah destroyed the Knicks by trading every premium draft pick for nothing in return. What did he give up for Eddie Curry? The second or third pick, overall?

No one is saying the the Knicks will be contenders next season, but D'Antoni is the best available coach and he is certainly top five in the NBA. The Knicks will get a lottery pick in the upcoming draft and are planning to free up cap space and make a run at Lebron, D-Wade or Chris Bosh in 2010.

I'll take it. At least with Walsh there the Knicks are going to be getting better each year. I don't have to worry about them trading away draft picks and David Lee for Antoine Walker or Eric Dampier. And who's to say D'Antoni can't handle the New York pressure? And why do you need a fiery coach? As long as he doesn't sexually harass anyone they'll be in the best shape they've been in in a long time.

Ok, if you guys are happy with picking up ~5 more wins per year for the next few before what I personally fear will be a contract buyout of Dantoni (who doesn't seem like a NYC kinda coach to me), then that's cool. There's no question it's a step in the right direction for the Knicks, but then again, what wouldn't be a step in the right direction after enduring 5 years of Isiah?
