Fantasy Baseball Trade

No idea if this was the right forum to post this in, but I just made a trade with one of my buddies on Fantasy Baseball and my friends are saying it was a bad trade for me. I'm doing shitty in hits and home runs and basically just need more hitters.

I traded my friend Johan Santana, Prince Fielder and Jimmy Rollins.

I got Chase Utley, Adrian Gonzalez and Aaron Harang.

I'm already in first place on pitching and Johan Santana isn't doing anything special this year at all, that's why I traded him for Harang.

Prince Fielder is only batting .240 right now and only has 5 home runs, last year was a standout year for him but before that he didn't do anything great so I traded him for Adrian Gonzalez who consistently hits around .300 and pulls in about 30 homeruns.

Jimmy Rollins has been DL'ed for a while but usually hits around .270 with a decent number of home runs and decent stolen bases, and I traded hm for Utley who I think is ranked #2 overall in baseball and consistently hits homeruns and hits over .300, I think he also has the most homeruns in baseball right now.

Good trade for me or not?

If Utley can continue to produce the numbers he has been so far, I'd say it was a good trade.

Santana, Fielder, and Rollins will get their numbers. They're three damn good players right there.

Utley is on fire, Gonzalez plays for an anemic offense, and Harang isn't good right now.

I'd say your friend got the better deal. Santana will get you wins, Ks, WHIP, ERA; Fielder will come around soon enough and give you HRs and RBIs; and Rollins will give you HRs, RBIs, AVG, Runs, and an overlooked category--steals.

Yeah, but I can't be waiting all season because I'm like 8th place out of 10 right now. The original trade was supposed to be for Utley, Gonzalez and Polanco but I couldn't fit Polanco in my lineup. Looking back, that would've been a better trade.

I think you guys need to compare the average differences between Prince Fielder/Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley/Adrian Gonzalez. Fielder is on average a worse player than Gonzalez, he just had a standout year last year and Utley's numbers are blowing Rollins' out of the water. Like I said, I can't do any better in pitching so that's why I traded Santana.

Now, I'm trying to defend the trade so I don't feel ripped off because when you look at just based on name recognition, it's a bad trade for me but if you look at this year's stats, it's a great trade for me.

There are 126 games left in the season. I wouldn't be resting on my pitching laurels just yet.

I think the biggest thing you overestimate is Fielder. People think a lot higher of him because of last year, but the fact is that it was one great year for HR's and that's it. He's hitting .240 with 5 HR's, I need hits bad and at this point, I'm betting that Adrian Gonzalez will hit more HR's than Fielder this season as well as having a much higher average.

With that factored in, I feel like I got the better of the trade.

Any else got any input?

Harang is pitching well, but hes receiving the fewest in terms of runs support out of everyone in MLB.

Utley and Rollins is a wash (both are elite players at shallow positions). So too is Fielder and Gonzalez (although I do suspect that Fielder will heat up once the weather does in June, but Gonzalez is very underrated). But I think that Santana will have a more productive season that Harang. He should get more wins, post a better WHIP and ERA...

I'd have to say you lost out on that one man. Santana is light years ahead of Harang. Fielder hasn't come close to hitting his stride yet, and should still pull a very good season. Rollins does everything, hopefully you don't need steals. If anything your team average would be better, but you lose out on steals and homers, OPS probably goes down as well as strikeouts.

Harang has been pitching well but the guy gets no run support, and in fantasy the record is a big part of it.

I'd say your friend got the better end of the deal. Santana is a phenominal 2nd half pitcher, Rollins will tear it up and Fielder will still hit his 40.
