10 seasons of 100 rbi and 100 runs scored

highest OPS in modern era of any 3rd basemen (yes higher than a-rod)

mvp award winner

has walked more than struckout over course of career

TO ALL WHO DISAGREE..

I can think of another switch hitter with about 2,000 more hits...

The first gift my husband ever bought for me was an autographed Chipper Jones baseball bat. He really knew the way to my heart! Chipper is the man, although I think greatest switch hitter of all time is a few seasons away.

Chipper is my favorite player and the Braves are my team -- I have tickets to Turner field on the 23rd to watch them play the Diamondbacks (I think).

I don't know if he's the best switch-hitter ever, but definately top 3 and should be a hall of famer.

I hate the Braves (Mets fan), but Chipper never gets the respect he deserves. I am assuming a lot of people in this thread have bashed Chipper. He is one of the greatest players of this era, and he did it the right way. He has played multiple positions and played them well. He is a great switch hitter, and doesn't show any signs of slowing down. In a time like this where all numbers are skewed, players like Chipper Jones need to be held on a higher pedestal since they played the game right. He is in the group with Frank Thomas, King Griffey, and Maddux on who played the game the right way.

He is handicapped by the team he plays for. The next sentence may hurt brave's fans, but even when they win, no one gives a shit about the braves. His career has been wasted there. If he had played for the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, or Dodgers he would be considered one of the GOAT 3rd basemen.

He even gets overshadowed by people on his own team. Before last year everyone was slurping on Andruw Jones' cock even though he was extremely overrated. He was a terrible hitter who just used steroids to hit homeruns. Now he is overshadowed by Francouer and Tex because those are the young kids. Deep down in my heart, I hope Chipper eventually becomes a Met, kind of like I always hoped Reggie Miller would become a Knick.

He is definitely not the greatest switch hitter of all-time though. Pete Rose is or the Mick, and then followed by Eddie Murray.

Oh btw, Jeter is going to break Rose's record, and then Rose will finally be allowed into the HoF.

u realize mickey mantle hit against pitching that would be equivalent to an 11th grader throwing 83 mph right?[/quote]

I don't guess you've ever heard of Warren Spahn, Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson, Robin Roberts, or insert starting pitcher from that era who routinely had 20+ complete games per year. Expansion has watered down the overall quality of pitching.

Chipper went 3-6 today with a HR (9), 5 RBI, (27) and 1 run scored while improving his league-leading AVG. to .425.

Maybe we should change the name of this thread to "The Official Chipper Jones for MVP Thread" or maybe I should make one.
