CFL/NFL Idea!

Canadian football fans might call me a traitor, but I am tossing out an idea that has been burning a hole in my brain. The two leagues should partner up to provide quality football year round and to solidify the CFL. Hear me out.
Each Cfl team would align with an NFL division.
Montreal- AFC East Toronto - NFC East Hamilton- AFC North Winnipeg- NFC North
Saskatchewan- AFC South Calgary- NFC North Edmonton- AFC West BC- NFC West
-Adapt NFL rules with NFL sized field
-Start CFL season earlier to not overlap the leagues' schedules
-CFL GM's have a larger talent pool to explore plus the scouting systems of their NFL Division
-CFL would increase their Canadian fanbase by gaining NFL fans from both Canada and US
-Top referees could officiate year round, improving the quality of officiating for CFL and NFL
-CFL could land a TV contract in the states solidifying the league
Any thoughts football fans?

To be honest with you your plan seems flawless. Maybe Im just saying that because I would like year around football, but those are great idea's. But there is probally so much more to it then we can even fathom.

Thanks Daniel! It would be very complicated to be sure! But the payoff to the Leagues, fans and player opportunities would be well worth it IMO.

Right now it is possible for great NCAA players (including some record setters) to get work in the CFL if they are not considered big enough for the NFL. With a bigger field east-west mobility can compensate for size whereas the NFL has more of a north-south smashmouth game. I wonder whether the talent in the CFL would suffer if it is competing for the same "model" of player as the NFL?

The NFL is going to get the players it wants. I'm wondering if the field narrows will the CFL have to give up some skill to gain size in its players?

I dont mind the width of the field, but the 20 yrd endzone is a little crazy. No such thing as goal line defense I guess

Three down football can also get messy since you have to risk all the time. I wonder if the large endzone is there to encourage more passing plays as well?

Im sure it is. More passing equals more scoring. Aslo it makes it easier to get a touchdown in the redzone other then a field goal. It must be a nightmare to be a D-corridinator in that league

That is why I think they would have to adjust the CFL field for this partnership idea to fly.

The top remaining talent would end up in the CFL no matter what their size!

I would think so. I think it would be more of a gain for the CFL, and that is why the NFL maybe hessitant of the idea. how do you think they should go about it. Make it somewhat of a developmental league, or just another regular league.
