Alexander Karelin, has there ever been so dominant an olympian?

Coming up to the olympics now, thought this dude deserved a mention.

Alexander Karelin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Been watching whatever footage I could find, didn't drop a single point for 13 years which included olympic and world events, as an aging olympian lost his final match on a new rule to a younger competitor in another olympic final, his 4th consecutive one.

Some compare him to Yamashita in judo who likewise went on a huge win streak which lasted literally years at the highest level, but this dude was even more feared than Yamashita was, people would apparently lose matches on purpose during tournaments to not have to face him.

Thought he was due a tribute, they certainly don't make em like this man anymore!!

he's definitely at the top. the only knock you could even have against him is that he competed in a not especially TUF division. meh doesn't bother me since he would smash all the little guys.

He aint going away, hes gonna be bigger than ever. He is on the verge of breaking the all-time Olympic medal record.

The 13 years without dropping a single point is the big one, just wiped out whoever was put in front of him.

Now a chess master, active in the Russian parliament and a PhD!!

Phelps is the most dominant...

I hate how he has his suit riding low as fuck but I guess when you are going to win a dozen gold medals you can do what you want

I think it is easy to overshadow the fact that Phelps' sport offers a whole lot of medals, while a wrestler can only get one at a time. It is easy to call the guy with fifteen golds a better athlete than the guy with three.
