Yea, not a good race for me, and even worse for the poor Philly. I didn't bet big - didn't have a great feel for this race. I usually make more money at the Preakness (which I usually attend) and the Belmont because I have a better feel for these horses and how they compete on dirt at big events, and more importantly, a better feel for which ones are really the best sprinters and stalkers when faced with an elite field.

^ The numbers always make this race hard as hell to bet imo. Too much chaos, too much uncertainty. Pyro got bumped and shut out right from the start, ruining his chances. He'll be back in the Preakness hopefully with a smaller field, and I think I might still throw some money his way there on the shorter track.

20 too many? You should try the Melbourne Cup at 24, or the Aintree Grand National Steeplechase... 40 horses over 7200m

Just out of interest guys, what were the dividends in the US? I work at a TAB in Australia and we were taking bets on the whole card. Our dividends were as such (keeping in mind our pools were ALOT smaller)

20-BIG BROWN Win: 3.00 Place: 1.50
5-EIGHT BELLES Place: 3.30
16-DENIS OF CORK Place: 10.30

Quinella 20,5: $22.40
Exacta 20-5: $87.30
Trifecta: 20-5-16: $1048.00

Cheers.

Why is it that US Racing pays all the exotic dividends for $2 instead of $1? Cos ours are for $1 just fyi

Those place dividends are quite strange.. Was Big Brown the favourite? Cos for a horse to pay 5 dollars to place and 4.80 to show, thats pretty impressive odds.
