I have a serious problem with Sherdoggers and fans of MMA who support McCain

McCain is actively trying to ban MMA across the U.S. He calls it a bloodsport and human cockfighting. This isn't a political trick to get votes. He really hates MMA.

He played a major role in the UFC being taken off of Pay Per View in the late 90's.

It's one thing to try to do this as a congressmen. But as a President he's going to have a lot more clout.

Yea...that was like 10 years ago. MMA is not on his list of priorities atm. Also, I love MMA, but it is at the very bottom of my list of reasons to vote for the leader of the country. If it's tops on yours, please don't vote.

Maybe i like mma more than you do. I'm not going to trust someones judgement when they tried to ban the best sport in the world. You probably don't even support soccer kicks and stomps on the ground...be honest.

This is only one of the reasons I don't like him but I think it's the most relevant one for Sherdog. I trust McCain more than Bush but I'm sorry, we need to change the way we approach Iran and international issues.

I'm not a McCain fan, and yes, I support soccer kicks, but I hate elbows. My love for MMA has nothing to with who I'm going to vote for. And I don't think you read my post - it's not on his agenda, he's not going to reverse all the progress made, that's old news.

Did you read my post? I don't trust the guy who tried to deep six our sport! I don't care if it was in the past. People are held accountable for their past. We also know that this guy is capable of ruining a lot of peoples fun.

Elbows stop fights w/o a clear winner, how are you a purist? I'd also like you to know that McCain helped save the sport. Because he tried to sink it promoters and supporters were forced to adopt rules like rounds, time limits, and refs. Unified rules which made the sport more exciting and made it possible for more orgs to be similar and therefore more fighters. If it were still under the rules it had back when it started, it would have never survived. I'll let him know you said thanks if I run into him.

And seriously, the fact that you would vote for a president b/c of his views on mma is completely retarded. By that standard, if Dana White ran for president, you would vote for him?

Are you fucking serious? Have you been living under a rock? It amazes me how little people know about politics especially here on sherdog. McCain is ACTIVELY trying to be the president of the United States NOT ban MMA as you say. The human cockfighting quote was said in the 90's and he hasnt mentioned it since. MMA has come a long way since the early years and im sure MMA is the last concern of john mccains as well as the American people.
You have to be pretty foolish to think mccain is sitting in his office right now thinking "man i cant wait to be president so i can ban MMA". Even the president of the UFC dana white himself knows mccain isnt concerned with what the hell is happening in MMA right now. You people need to get a clue. Im not dismissing what mccain said but republicans traditionally believe in less government involvement in your everyday life while obama and the democrats believe in big government which means telling you how to live your life and that is a fact.
