About Products:
Gloves:
The gloves arrived well packaged in the original factory plastic bag, and initial impressions were that these are nice muay thai gloves. The design, material, and workmanship are very good quality. The smooth full grain leather has a soft, yet durable feel to it. The BGVL-3 model gloves are an all-purpose training glove, that is very well suited to sparring work. The gloves have a softer leather, softer padding, and are larger in overall size when compared to say the Fairtex BGV1 model gloves. The stitching is high quality, and it is reinforced in all stress areas.
The glove has a snug, form fitting, internal hand compartment that fits very well, and making a fist feels very natural. This model does have the grip bar or hose which became a standard feature sometime in 2008 or 2009. It has an attached thumb design for safety, and for obvious reasons it is easy to open the mitt part of the glove to facilitate the "clinch" movement. This model is a medium length cuff version with a velcro wrap around loop that provides excellent wrist support and protection.
The Twins Special BGVL model gloves are undoubtably one of the most popular, and prevelent muay thai gloves that you will see in use today. Personally, when I slip my hands into them, get them properly seated, and make a fist, they feel really good to me. Interestingly enough their large overall size, and softer padding are features that either cause people to really like them or cause people to look for something else. And, it all seems to come down to a matter of personal preference, as to how you like your gloves.
I would say these are excellent gloves for the price range. They are well designed, well made gloves, and certainly well worth the current price of $54.99.
I would rate these gloves as a 4.25/5 stars on overall quality, design, features, materials, and price.
Shorts:
The shorts arrived well packaged in the original Twins Special factory plastic bag. The design, material, and workmanship are good quality. The material is a satin type nylon, the colors are good, and detailed designs are made from separate material that is stitched on. The waist band is wide, has an embroidered Twins Special logo patch on the front, and the standard internal drawstring. Stitching is good.
I would say these are good shorts for the price range. Are they the same quality as the Fairtex muay thai shorts? The simple answer is no they are not, but at half the cost of the Fairtex shorts, they should fall within everyone's budget, and are worth the current price of $29.99.
I would rate these shorts as a 4/5 stars on overall quality, design, features, materials, and price.
