top contender 18oz hook & loop gloves

http://www.ringside.com/DETAIL.ASPX?ID=25086

I have had these gloves for about 9 months, but they have only seen consistant use for about 6-7 months. I got tired of seeing the same old Gi pants and fight shorts threads, so I decided to try and review something.

First of all the gloves seems to be made of good materials. The leather was very soft right out of the box, so break in did not take long. The padding in these gloves is about 2" thick and focused mainly around the knuckles. The padding itself is pretty solid at first, but it softned up after only a few round on the heavy bag. With wraps on the inside of the glove is pretty sung. I don't have overly large hands either. The inner lining is some kind of polyester. It does a good job of repelling sweat so your gloves don't get weighted w/ sweat. The wrists give good support. The elastic strap that wraps around your wrist keeps the glove pretty snug.

as I said before, I've only consistantly been using the gloves for about 6-7 months. 2-3x a week 1-2 hrs at a time for . I've used them for everything, bag work, mitt work, but mostly sparring. They seem to be holding up pretty well. Overall I like the feel of these gloves for both sparing and bag work. For sparring the padding is soft enough to offer good protection, but I don't feel like I'm wearing pillows. Bag work is the same way, soft feel, not too bulky.

My only complaint is the seam placement. the inside seam rubs right on end my thumb. I don't know if it's the length of my thumbs or what. It's not that big a deal, but after extended use it you can definantly feel it.

All in all I'd suggest these gloves. They are pretty much ringside gloves, only with better colors (can't go wrong w/black & white) and a lower price tag. I think I paid $55 for gloves and 2 sets of wraps. I'll post pics if I can figure out how.

Would anybody recommend these gloves over the KO Fight Gear gloves?

I'd recommend these over the KO's if you have pretty big hands.
