Hey, ClampXVII and Mumrik; I've a couple of questions for you:

1) Can you open your hands easily with the Triumph Uniteds?

2) How big/small is the gloves' hand compartment? (I've small hands, so, this is a big concern for me)

Thanks!

I just got them so I haven't used them at all yet. I just picked them up because they're always hanging around at dirt cheap clearance pricing.

My very first impressions are quite positive. They seem rather well made and comfortable. They force you into a very deep fist (your fingers go extremely far into the bend of the glove). I can't comment on performance yet.

1) Mine are not broken in at all yet, but anything beyond this requires a bit of force:

It is harder than it is in the Thai gloves.

2) I like gloves to be as snug as possible as long as my fingers still get their blood. This is a pretty snug hand compartment in my experience. Even without wraps there is very little room for my hand, and especially my fingers, to move around. It is definitely nowhere near the ballroom that some gloves are (like my 18oz Fairtex Safety gloves).

My hands are 8½-9" around the first set of knuckles and MMA glove manufacturers usually have me at L or XL.

I agree with Mumrik about the hand compartment, its snug without being too tight. My gloves are broken in a bit and it does open up a little easier after you have trained with them a bit.

Thank you very much for this review. Working here means that price is never too much of a big deal but the boss man is a little nervous to carry them. I have a pair of hnL coming.

Yeah, I wonder how these MMA related brands are doing with their more boxing focused products. I get the impression that brand history plays a great part when it comes to gloves.

Yeah brand history to boxing people (especially those who hate mma) seems to be important but both sports need to train with boxing gloves or thai gloves so it shouldn't be a different realm for most manufacturers.

Exactly... They can potentially make good gloves, but I wonder if they have a hard time getting to the part of the user base that isn't motivated by seeing someone like Hendo use them on the Countdown.

I think this is a feature of most modern/pre-curved gloves, unlike the more old school ones. Maybe one of the few exceptions are Grant gloves (although I'm sure there are other exceptions)

Here are some pictures of the TU and Winnings side by side. The style is very similar but some slight differences. The thumb is longer on the Winnings than the TU. The TUs construction is a bit wider but more snug than the Winnings. The Winnings have a thicker palm bar and seems to be more anatomically correct as far as hand position goes. The wrist of the TU has thicker padding than the Winnings. Both great gloves and it just comes to user preference which one the wearer likes better.
