Just an update for people who don't read the Title threads:

According to Wes from TitleMMA TU will keep producing and selling the original Heatseekers. The 2.0 gloves might end up only being sold directly by TU. Producing a 1.0 and 2.0 version of a product at the same time seems stupid, but there you go....

Will experiment but I think you would want to install them so the edge of the Velcro wrap is on top of your wrist as opposed to the bottom.
Is that possible though? Based on what I've seen of them, even if you set them up the way clamp did, they're still pretty much on the bottom of the glove.

I did not get a pair of the Heatseekers, because I had already ordered 2-3 pairs of other gloves by the time they went on sale, but just for the record, that chemical smell just means that you got a pair of really factory fresh gloves. It is an adhesive that they use, and it will cook off after they have been aired out for a while, and that smell will go away.

Ok, here's my review of the gloves:

I bought the 16 oz black Heatseekers. The first thing I noticed was that the contrasting strip of leather around the thumb piece is actually white instead of red like on the Title website. Other people have posted pics of the black glove that shows this, but I guess I didn't notice. Not a big deal, just thought I'd point that out.

Here is a pic of the gloves laced with 3/8" elastic laces:

I'm wearing 180" hand wraps under the gloves. They stay on rather snug, but I can still tighten them quite a bit more and still be able to get them on over the wraps. I've decided to just use them this way instead of going with the hook and loop converters. Triumph Heatseekers with Title Hook and Loop Converter I'll post comments and pics of them with the Title lace covers when I get around to ordering some... but that probably won't be for a month or two.

Here are pics of a few flaws:

The leather used on the glove is rather tight and smooth. Some of these creases appear to have been caused by the way the gloves were stored. When I pulled them out of the packaging the creases were flattened against the plastic bag they were shipped in. They seemed to have smoothed out some since then.

A couple of small gouges in the leather, which appear to be from the factory and not from later damage.

Some indentions on the front which probably came from shipping... its been about half a day since I've unpacked them and they haven't smoothed out yet. Not too big of a deal.

Bit of a shoddy stitching job here.

Not huge things, but I just wanted to point out that at least the pair I received aren't perfect. The quality of the glove overall is quite good, but not quite as good as I thought they would be. They're definitely $70-85 gloves, but I wouldn't pay $110 for them(the original full price). At $40 though, they're simply great.

The hand compartment is very compact and snug in my medium width and short fingered hands. They're snugger than any other 16 oz glove I've used, but I will admit that has been limited to Ringside/Top Contender, Tuf-Wear, and a few cheapo gloves. The glove is compact overall for a 16 oz. Most other training gloves I've used are bulky by comparison.

The wrist support is excellent. I have small wrists and usually have to lace gloves up rather tight to get good support. There's a good amount of padding on the underside of the glove around the wrist, more so than other gloves I've used. However, on the ridge side of the hand the padding stops half way up on the palm.

The leather on the glove is a thin, taut, and smooth sheeny type. That's about as accurate as I can describe it. For comparison the leather on Tuf-Wear laceups are rather thick, loose, soft, and supple. This is not to say that the leather on the Heatseekers are brittle, it seems rather tough and I'm sure it can stand some abuse. Where as the leather on the Tuf-wear gloves will bunch up if I press hard on them with my fingers, the leather on the Heatseekers stays mostly flat. Generally the leather on the Heatseekers will have less friction when making contact due to the smoother surface.

Hope this helps those of you deciding on whether to buy the gloves.

Compact 16oz? They are actually pretty big 16oz gloves IMO. It's too bad you got some that aren't in perfect shape. They kinda need a better quality control standard if people are getting pitting on the gloves and bad decals. good review btw and nice clear pics. What score would you give me in your opinion?

To me they're compact, but that probably has more to do with the other 16 oz training gloves I've used, all of which sell for under $80 list and have been bulky. Overall, due to the issues I had with my pair, I'd rate the quality as ok.... at $40, nothing was bad enough to make me want to send them back for a different set. They're a great pair of gloves at that price point. If I had paid $75, I would probably contact Title and send them the images of the issues to see what they thought in regards to a trade in. If I had paid $110, I would've sent them back. I guess I rate them at 8.5/10 due to the QA issues I had with my set. Without those problems I'd give them a 9/10.

I wasn't looking for another pair of training gloves, but I was already making an order, and at a price like that for a nice looking and well reviewed set of gloves, I couldn't pass them up. It's not like they're going to get any cheaper, and really... what comparable gloves are out there for $40?

I wouldn't recommend using these as bag gloves. I mean you can and they'd probably do fine for awhile, but I don't think they'd hold up in the long run.

i got 12's that i use for the bag.... been using them for a month now. they hold up well.

personally i think they're good for bag and mitt gloves because the damn wrist support is so sturdy... its like having a cast with padding on your knuckles
