the starsguards looks like it has better upper gums protection than the gladiator.

i also remember seeing on the forums, that gladiator is known for having a lowest upper gum shield.

i'm interested in getting a starsguards.

when i'm wearing my gladiator, i can still see alot of my gums, under my nose.

i wonder if anyone's starsguards covers the entire upper gums?

Mine fits above the ridge on my gumline. If you take your finger and put it on the tip of your front teeth and then move it up towards the gum you will feel what I describe as a ridge. My Stars Guards goes above that. And you the sake of the review I have finally got hit with it in and you know what happened nothing. Which is what I would expect.

Helping keep the guard in is secondary to protection for the "root" of your teeth, commonly referred to as the "gumshield", very important...

My first review, started off wanting it to be a a short piece but it didn’t do Jeff’s sterling service justice. Here goes…

After moving from Karate to Thai Boxing I bought up a cheap mouth guard and it’s served its purpose, but the more I’ve started the spar the more my guard has become an annoyance. Such as when trying to talk or take a quick gasp it would drop out, having to hold it between rounds when wanting to talk was annoying, always ending up with a nasty taste. A few shots have had the guard cut my mouth a little bit with it been a little slack. So I decided that’s it, having had a bad bike crash last year I’d do something to protect my mouth to avoid those high dentist bills again!
I’ve been using Sherdog for a while, it’s been great for reading up on quality brands and items to get, when it come to guards it’s no exception.
I shortlisted it down to Jawzz or StarsGuards from the feedback left on the G&E boards. I emailed Jeff first and his reply was prompt, professional and very personal. Also there was one or two threads popping up advocating Jeff’s great service so right there I went with Jeff.

There was a little mix up and my impression kit was a bit late coming to me, Jeff apologised and it shortly arrived after. The instructions were easy to understand and follow. I fiddled about with the trays then decided I needed a second opinion. Luckily a friend of mine is training to be a dentist so I went over to hers and we did the impression there. There was a small scuff on the front of my teeth in the impression, I took a picture and emailed Jeff he said it was fine and they could work around it. I don’t think it’s been mentioned here but the impression kit tasted good! A nice peppermint taste!

I received an email a week later saying Jeff had the guard and we discussed a bit on what colour and such. I decided to go with 2 [I’m a bit of a clean freak] a solid black one and a solid blue one, both with my name down one side and the StarsGuards logo on the other, leaving the front clear.

I had a problem with my old email address becoming unavailable for some reason [still having problems there] so Jeff put up with me and was cool about the delay on my behalf while getting a GMail account sorted.
Jeff then sent me an email explaining that the blue looked almost like black so he scraped it and made it silver. Along with the email were 6 pictures, 3 of each guard. It honestly looks amazing I’m glad it was changed to that!

When phoning over the card details me and Jeff spoke a little and he said the black one hadn’t come out as good as he hoped, a lot of bubbles which were very visible, as there was a mix-up earlier in my order, so Jeff kindly decided to give me the black one free and only charge me for the silver one + shipping.
Having received it I have been able to use it in a few training sessions and a couple of rounds of sparing, it’s held up much better than expected, fits really tight and I’m able to talk without holding my guard or what not. I’m able to take a drink without moving the guard at all and it’s so comfortable, so much so I could sit around all day every day with it in place and not worry about discomfort.

I would 100% without doubt recommend Jeff. He delivers a personal service and is willing to go the extra bit to sort out any problems that may arise.
The guard is amazing. I can’t believe I put up with that horrible BnB guard for so long.

My only gripes for the whole service are those already aired by MIDMOBOX regarding the length of the process.

Here are a couple extra pics I took this morning:

MARR made a great point. Its not what happens when an order goes right that defines customer service its when theres small problems that make someone want to come back.

And I think many people forget that they are dealing with custom work here which makes providing that kind of customer serivce even more difficult. I think Jeff did a great job for me and it seems like alot of others who have bought his porduct.
