I just received my new mouth guard from scott at customguards.net. He did the silver teeth with foil for me on a clear guard. it looks great and i couldn't be happier with the work and everything with the customer service. i have a custom one from jeff at stars guards also of the same type and had a great experience with him also. But as of now if one was going to get this type i would go with scott. He has this method down and its extremly shiny. But if anyone is in need of a custom mouth guard. these 2 guys are the way too go no doubt. Everything about these guys is top notch. plus scott at custom sends you back your impression mold so if u want another u just send that back instead of dealing with the whole impression kit again. Another plus is the turn around time is great. took scott about a week to get it done with and sent to me. very fast.custom guards all the way.

I thought I would post a short update to my reveiw. Lke I said I was impressed with the tight fit of my guard when I got it. However I learned shortly that it was a hair too tight. In fact it irratated the area behind my K-9 teeth. A quick call to Starsguards and a breif conversation with Jeff and my guard was on its way back to Texas.

I should add at this point that I wasn't upset about the tight fit and I think anyone can understand when dealing with tolerances this tight every once in awhile one will be just a shade on the too tight side. Well less than a week later I have my guard back and the fit has been corrected. Stars took care of the issue. The most intrested thing about a claim of good customer service is what happens after the sale. In this case the service continued.

So since my guard is now comfy, I got a chance to wear it for the first real time. On Weds I did my shadow boxing workout with it in and found that it was a non issue. although I did slober a little bit more than usual I found that breathing was almost normal like I didn't have it in. I recently read somewhere on here that some people are concerned about breathing when switching from a double"brainpad" to a custom single. Although there is no breathing chanel in a custom single, I didn't have a problem breathing when "clenched" I found that I was breathing more around the guard instead of through a hole like my brain pad. Its hard to explain but picture opening your mouth and placing your finger across your front teeth and then exhale. THe air sorta comes down your cheeks and out past your finger. Not sure if this is "correct" or not but it works for me as of now.

Thursday I was expecting to actually get hit with it but class focused on Postional wrestling and no real punches were landed. The guard stayed in my mouth during the rounds and mostly inbetween. I did catch myself pulling it out both to show people and out of habit. But it was comfortable enough I really didn't have to.

I never really got caught in anything resambling a decent choke that day so I don't know yet how the custom will feel. I have always just bit down on my Brain pad and dropped my chin then kept breathing through the breathing channel so it may be differnt if I get caught in some sorta of face crush. Time will tell and I will post here when it does.

I did find that I can speak much easier while working with it than the double. However long complex explanations I still popped it out for. Not sure why maybe habit. Speach isn't completely unaffected but much people could understand me.

Reactions on the design were postive

Well my faith in this product and company continue. In fact I went the extra step of adding their logo to my black SSF shorts I've been playing with for awhile, afflication113 here at Sherdog hooked me up with the graphics and I couldn't be happier.

Not only did affliction113 do an excellent job but had the shorts back to me much quicker than expected. I'm sure he can met most any sort of graphics work for fighters gear. He used the heat transfered vinyl and I have no reason to doubt that the graphics will be around as long as the shorts are.

What are these guards running? Right now just using one my dentist made me that is more of a night guard thing for teeth rubbing, wouldn't mind getting something like this if I can fit it in the budget.

starsguards seem have to have a higher "front" than my gladiator.

has anyone else noticed that?

I don't think its high. I think it helps keep the guard in.

3d fang guard from scott (customguards.net). Review will be up some time this week, along with a comparison between customguards and starsguards.

This is the first guard scott has done of this kind, and has told me that when he gets the technique down pat, he will send me a new one free of charge.
