SSF Loose Fit Rashguard Review and Comparison

I just purchased the SSF Loose Fit rashguard after realizing that I was wearing the Sprawl Loose Fit rashguard every class. I thought I would give everyone a quick review and a little comparison to the Sprawl

Fit: From looking at the website I really thought the side of the shirt with the SSF website address was the front. Since the shirt has no tag I put the shirt on with that side in front and immediately was thinking this must go back as it was really uncomfortable. I then decided to turn the shirt around and sure enough it fit great. Hopefully I am actually wearing this correctly because if I am not then I will continue to wear it backwards and feel like a moron. Overall very comfortable as I am about 5'10 and 180 pounds and bought the large.

Color: My real hesitation in buying this rashguard was the white color as I was really afraid of the world seeing me sweat like a jiu jitsu pig. It turns out the white is fine as you barely could see the outline of my body through the shirt in the light and I didn't notice any sweat stains after a few good rolls.

Material: I think the reason the color didn't bother me is due to the quality of the material. Very thick but breathable and did a good job of wicking away the sweat. I did notice one of the stitches in the back of the collar a little damaged after class. I truly don't know if I received it that way or it happened during class. Either way it seems minor but something I should probably keep an eye on.

Comparison to Sprawl Loose Fit:
* SSF is longer in the body as I think the Sprawl has shrunk slightly even though I never machine dried it. I personally like the length of the SSF better.
* SSF is shorter and tighter in the sleeves....I like the sleeve length of the Sprawl better as it comes close to my elbow.
* SSF is tighter in the chest but about the same in the midsection vs the Sprawl....I actually like the fit of the Sprawl better in the chest area but it is not a big deal.
* SSF seems to ride up slightly less then the Sprawl when rolling which I obviously like better.
* SSF is cheaper which I think everyone will probably like better.
* In takedown drills I got taken down a few times and blame that solely on the SSF rashguard....last class wearing the Sprawl I got caught in a triangle so they both have some weaknesses

Overall the SSF is a keeper and will go into my rotation of clothes. Give it a shot if you like your Sprawl. Sorry my pictures suck but all my money has been going to MMA clothes instead of a new camera...damn this site!

How bout an update on this item. How is the white holding up anyway and the stitching on the collar?

Hope Ron does this in longsleeve someday.

Damn, I never saw this review. Let me know if the collar gave you any more problems.

I have been wearing this rashguard once per week for my no gi class since I wrote the review and it still looks new. I have even gotten a decent amount of blood on the shirt and it cleaned up nice. The stitching issue on the neck has not gotten worse.

To compare this rashguard to an Under Armour type shirt would be comical because the material on the SSF rashguard is much more durable. I am very happy with the purchase and look forward to buying more loose fit type rashguards or any gear (own a SSF gi as well) for that matter from Ron if he puts them out.

It goes with out saying that it was only other peoples blood right. People who wear SSF don't bleed from what I've been told.
