Shoyoroll Superlite Review

I have never owned a Shoyoroll gi previously and with all of the buzz about them, I was expecting good things.

I received my white A1 today in the mail. Immediately, I opened it up to try it on finding the pants fit very comfortably and that the top was a little bit too baggy.

Unfortunately, I couldn't be assed to look for my tape measure to provide you guys with before and after measurements so photos will have to do.

First the pants:

Apparently, I can only upload 6 images so here are the rest:

Now for the jacket:

Overall fit:

Obviously, the jacket is pretty baggy and the sleeves a tad bit long. I'm washing it in hot water as I type and I'll throw it in the drier afterwards. I'll post a few more pictures when I'm satisfied with the shrinkage.

I love how the gi looks, it's very sharp. However, the collar is very thin. I'm going to start training in it tonight so I'll be sure to let you guys know how it preforms on my next update.

I've been wanting to get this gi because of the reviews but the collar softness is stopping me from doing it. How soft is it? Softer than a Koral lite or Vulkan superlite?

I have an Atama, Gameness Pearl and Single Weave, and Keiko Raca Limited Edition 2009. The Shoyoroll collar definitely feels the thinnest of all of my kimonos. I haven't tested it yet but I will definitely note that in my next update. I'd like to be able to train in it before I conclude that it isn't the best collar.

I'll put all my collars together to show everyone the thickness.

Am I the only one that preferred the older style flat fabric drawstrings rather than ropes?
The ropes stick less and are easier to tighten but even double knotting them they loosen easier.

These gis look awsome, but they're so easy to grab onto. How does this Gi rank with your others?

I trained in it last night and I can say that I was pretty happy with the performance. It stays shut and it's really comfortable so I have no complaints. To my surprise, we actually did collar chokes last night and my gi was putting up some trouble for my partner as far as manipulating it. Good news!

As far as fit, it isn't my favorite but it is up there out of all of my gis. It's very comfortable and I love how the pants feel. I'm really liking how light it is since it gets pretty warm in my gym sometimes and it feels really easy to move in.

Alright, two nights of training in with the new gi.

I'm loving it so far. The far is great and it is so damn comfortable. My only complaint is how easy the gi is to manipulate but for a 'superlite' gi, I wasn't expecting an armored suit.

Overall, I'm completely satisfied. I can't wait for the new batch.
