This is my first thread EVARRR on sherdog! Hopefully someone finds it useful.
This review is on the item stated in the title.
My background:
I do bjj anywhere from 2-4 times a week and I have been using a standard Bike cup and jock strap. I don't mind the jock strap so much. My main gripe about the setup is that it leaves me feeling very sore in the areas surrounding my jewels. This isn't due to the cup being too large or the jock strap fitting weird; it's because the cup offers no flexibility!
I've read good things about the Shock Doc setup so I decided to give it a whirl.
First impressions:
When I finally got my shit in the mail, I opened everything and tried the set up on. Very comfortable. I could probably wear this thing going about normal life and forget it was on lol. The compression short itself is made of high quality material much like a rashguard, not to be confused with thinner UnderArmour materials.

Rolling impressions:
I am VERY impressed with this cup. I am pretty much convinced now that what makes a cup comfortable or not is in how well it can flex (while still performing its duties of protecting your nuts of course). We were drilling back escapes and at first when I had my partners back, it was uncomfortable because my nuts were warm (thus hanging lower) and it almost pinched. But once we started rolling and that fight-or-flight protocol kicked in, my sack clenched close to my body and it was all good. By the end of practice, I pretty much forgot it was on. And no soreness!
There's only one thing I have to complain about. The material of the compression short sticks to my gi pants! I found that quite annoying because it limited the flexibility of my legs. The solution I offer below counteracts that. They're fine in mma shorts.
Side notes:
The Bike cup and Shock Doc Flex Cup are exactly the same size. They're both 7" lengthwise and 4" at the widest point. I fitted my Flex Cup into my Bike jock strap and it fits perfectly and is in fact quite comfortable! So, if you've already got a jock strap or if you wanna be really economical, I say buy just the Flex Cup (yes you can buy it separately). On the Shock Doc website it says that the Flex Cup is only to be used with a same brand compression short or jock strap. That's BS. That's like a company saying you gotta use a crest toothbrush with crest tooth paste!
