Review: Truth V3 Boardshort

Product: Truth V3 Boardshort
Price: $25
Location: www.txmma.com/cart
Sizing: True, or close (34 in jeans, 34 in product)

Pro's:
Durability: 25+ washes, crotch pulling opponents, etc. Only slight fading and very slight marring of fabric, likely from washing in loads with jeans, or tugging.
Looks: Small logo, which although "ninja" isn't that annoying. Good looking, basic short.
Stitching: No errors, reinforced throughout.
Fit: Elastic waist, and stretch panels leads to solid fit without mobility issues
Price: I'd rather have two pairs of these than one pair of Sprawl/Tapout
Shipping: Timely, no issue

Pro/Con:
No Split leg. I prefer this.
Length: At/slightly above knee @ 5"11. I prefer this.

Con's:
No mouthguard/hidden pocket
Material used for waist laces sticks to velcro crotch/waist cinch. Common problem, but one I would remedy if I made shorts.

The more I see these the more I think I am going to get a pair of them. Do you use them for grappling, MT, or both. If you do use them for MT are they baggy enough or do they stretch enough for throwing kicks?

Grappling only to this point. I wear other shorts for striking, largely due to wash cycle.

The Truths work very well for BJJ and MT. My only nitpick is that the waistband could be a little less burly, specifically the front velcro part. All in all, they're a great pair of shorts I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

They have a duel flex panel (inner and outer leg) so stretch is no problem. I also think that they made the waistband a little less bulky now.

Thanks for the good reviews. The next run arriving in July will have a velcro strap about half the width of the current one, so it should make some people happy.

I have to disagree - I bought a pair based on a positive review at lockflow.com, and had the following issues:

a)embroidered logo was rough on the underside and irritated my leg
b)waist band constantly poked against my stomach, and if the velcro wasn't perfectly parallel, it left the hooks on the upper section rubbing against my skin and left some nice marks
c)found the material very heavy and durable, but frankly too heavy and retained too much heat.
d)lastly, my specific pair came complete with a mysterious white stain on the black side of the shorts...its would not wash out after 3 washings, and due to that and the problems above, I have since tossed them in the trash.

Summary - I do not recommend.

Hope that helps.

I feel terrible about complaining since I was sent a free pair of shorts due to defects with my original pair.

My original pair of pants hasn't survived much at all. The entire pair of pants has picked really badly and has the fabric coming up on the entire front. The logo on both pair of pants, the fabric has been becoming loose around it. The velcro does not stay lined up well and does irritate your stomach.

My white ones do seem to be holding up better than my original blue, but not at the actual logo areas. As I said, I got my money worth due to a replacement, but in the overall quality I was rather sad. They seem good for working while during the gym, but their durability has seriously disappointed me.
