Note: Take any technical review of this gear cum grano salis because I have no BJJ background at all.
Placed my order Wednesday morning, got an email from customer support because I had ordered an A3 size SSF Pro Gi, and a size 4 SSF white belt which for most people wouldn't be a suitable combination. The customer service offered to change the order to a size5 gameness belt for an extra $5, but since I am skinny at a 32 waist, was told that my belt would be fine.
The order arrived Saturday morning with the CryoGel, Belt, and SSF Pro Gi, along with some small sample packets of cryogel. What I enjoyed the most was how Ron shipped USPS but was using plastic packaging which DHL gives out to its business customers, so he puts the plastic inside out, a brilliant way to save resources.
Note: I placed my order for the shorts thru
www.SSFgear.com, but currently the shipping on the Gi when combined with other items jumps to $48 on SSF.com, so I ordered through
www.ScientificStreetFighting.net, their old site which doesn't have this shipping price glitch along with a few more products that Ron has yet to load onto his new site.
edit: First impression of the SSF Pro Gi after trying it on. I am 6'2" 155lbs (without eating or body image disorders

) and the pants were of good length, maybe about a half inch shorter than I was anticipating but I have very long legs. Waist wise I had enough room to become pregnant, so I'm going to have to make sure I do a good job with the drawstrings. Again this is my own fault for having a 32 size waist.
The Gi had excellent arm length and was indeeded a slender cut so that I didn't have too much loose space under my arms for around the shoulders. Lengthwise it came down to within an inch or so of covering my butt.
I'll review the Gi's performance and some shockdoctor compression shorts that should be here Monday from SSF as soon as I start up BJJ on Tuesday.
Update:
After 1 class the Gi seemed great! I got a compliment from the instructor on the quality of Gi and he asked where I got it, as well as everyone I got paired with, so having the URL on there made it easy for me to say yeah I just got it off the SSF website. The pants are just atrociously too wide around the waist for my skinny ass so I had to really use the drawstrings to keep them up, someone of normal proportions, or even heavyset would be fine in these without a doubt. One of the two loops for the drawstrings to go thru seems to be a bit weakened (before or after rolling I can't say if it was pre-existing) which could prove to be a problem if the stitching broke completely during class. I'll probably to run some thread thru there if I can find a needle and some skills lol, just to be safe.
Update#2:
ShockDoctors arrived and I was worried because the package was small, but they were safely bundled in the factory packaged plastic box. I ordered a Medium, and it seems to be a great fit. Doing warmups like running aren't that fun with the cup on, but while rolling I forgot I even had anything on until it saved my nuts when I defended a mount attempt that left his knee resting on the cup.
Having my shockdoctors have a removable cup allowed me to at least test fit it into 2 other pairs of super cheap russel shorts with cup pouches, and it should work fine with those when I dont have my ShockDr.'s clean.
Now I just need to learn more BJJ to break closed guards without getting swept, or leaving a single arm in for locks and triangles.
