Hitman Fight Gear Recon Shorts and Rash Guard + More

A few weeks ago Dan from HitmanFightGear posted a special about having free shipping and a gift for orders over $70. Always willing to give less recognized stores a try, I decided to place an order.

I decided to pick up their Recon Black Camo Shorts combo which came with a black rash guard.

The item is found here for $60.00

http://www.hitmanfightgear.com/catal...4004b65207688a

Recon Black Camo Shorts

The shorts are made of 100% Polyester just like Tapouts where most Sprawl's are Nylon. They are light and seem very sturdy. The legs feature no split but they are wide enough that you do not need one. Where sprawl has a inseam of stretch material, the Recon shorts parts that are not camo, are a similar type of strech polyester that is a little more durable than Sprawl, but don't have as much give.

The logo on the rear is a thicker type of screen print. It is on very securely and after a few uses and washes, there are no signs of wear or peeling.

The side panels feature a hidden pocket. The website advertises it as a spot for an MP3 player, mouthpiece, wallet, keys, etc. I think this is a great feature for TRAINING shorts, but are they really needed if these are marketed as FIGHT shorts?

The enclosure system is similar to the ones used on Tapout, but with no annoying rubber logo. They have an adjustable draw string and velcro loop to secure them. The website says they run a little large, and I would agree, not too much of a difference. From my experience Sprawl tends to be exact size or run a little small, and Tapout run a little big. The Hitman Recon are right in the middle as far as accuracy of sizing.

Yes, camo has been done to death but I like the woodland camo compared to your general army camo. Hitman also has a matching woodland camo rashguard sold seperately.

The shorts are not available to purchase seperately from the package deal. I'd be interested to see how they would be priced by themself. Overall I think they are great shorts. I personally like them better than my Forty Theives and Tapouts.

Overall the quality, style, enclosure, etc is all near the top. Aside from personal prefrence with split legs or the MP3 pocket, there is not much you can say are wrong with these shorts.

Shorts Overall: 9/10

Hitman Black Rash Guard

The rash guard is the 2nd part of the combo package. Not much in the looks department, but it gets the job done.

For those who don't train with rash guards, or use something like Under Armor, Under Armor, Nike Dri-Fit, etc, they are not the same.

For example Dri-Fit is 74% Polyester, 14% Nylon and 12% Spandex.
This rash guard is 80% Nylon and 20% Lycra.
The difference in feel, fit and durability are no where close. Many people who grapple in Under Armor know it is very light but it rips very easily and over time wear out quickly. The Hitman rash guard is a heavier, but more durable feel, a skintight fit and you don't have to worry about it tearing. The downfall of this rash guard like the downfall of many others is how constantly it rides up. It is a very annoying situation having to constantly adjust it. I know some companies are coming out with rash guards with draw strings to help prevent ride up. If the Hitman rashguard had it, then it would be perfect for the price.

Hitman has a ton of dry fit shirts and rash guards available in nearly EVERY color! (sorry Foz, no pink). I also believe Hitman can do customizations to them which is great for training schools or people who want to customize their guard. The Hitman logo is the same quality as on the shorts.

In conclusion, I like it very much but the way it rides up is very annoying.

Overall: 8/10

Bonuses

The free gift for spending over $70?

A Hitman trucker hat. This hat isn't available on the website yet. It is a typical trucker hat. I have a small head so they look stupid on me. Still a very cool bonus for Hitman to throw in.

Also, they threw in about 9 UFC 66 promotional posters as well as these stickers. I think I got one of everything.

Conclusion

This was my first order with Hitman but it will not be the last. The customer service was great. The items were perfect as described and the extras are always nice. My only complaint is that they use UPS to ship. Personally I loathe UPS and in the past not shopped at online stores the only offer UPS as a shipping option. I think it would be wise of Hitman in the future to offer other shipping solutions like FedEx or USPS. UPS ground kinda blows when 3 day Priority Mail is quicker and less expensive, although UPS is insured and USPS is extra for insurance. But again, it is fightwear, I don't think it is something that can be damaged shipping but the way UPS cares for packages it is a good thing it is insured. And yes, my box arrived with a nice kick mark dented in the side. Other than shipping, no problems.

I'd definately recommend everyone to check them out. They have a ton of nice graphic tshirts for $10 and $20 and the variety of rash guards is definately nice.

Good review.
I almost got these, but I was too curious what the new line will look like.

Thanks for the review. I really like the little MP3 player pocket on the side. A little pricey in my opinion though.
