Do you have any trouble sinking submissions (rear naked or kimura)???
Technically I think the MMA glove is a tad bit better for pure standup, since it is shaped more like a boxing glove. That said though, I don't even train standup with my MMA training gloves anymore... I just use the Hybrid One of my regular sparring partners said that he thought the padding on the Hybrid felt very similar to the padding on the MMA glove (that is, "felt" in terms of getting hit with it, hehe).

I haven't had any trouble with armbars/kimura/etc. at all. Oddly, I don't think I've had a chance to try a rear naked yet. I'll make a point to doing that soon.

As far as the padding goes, I think 3/4" of padding at the knuckle sounds about right... It might actually be slightly more, closer to 1".

Doubt it's a ripoff, just made by the same company that makes them for primetime.

The wrist strap on these is phenominal BTW, best available IMO.

The padding in the hybrid is a different type of foam than that in the pro style grappling glove. It is thicker, more gel like (latex opposed to faom rubber) and is much more cushioning, again IMO.

I have these same gloves and I HATE them. I got them in mid-december adn they are junk and falling apart. Since they are labeled as a cross-training (hybrid) glove, I have used them in every facet of training( GnP, grappling, standup & bag work). After about 2 weeks the leather inside of the palm started to split. Around 6 weeks into using them, I noticed the pad starting to migrate back to where the thickest part of the pad was actually behing my knuckles whem I clenched my fist, causing damage and bruising to my hands. I will include pics later today.

And by the way, when I tried to contact customner support thru csi's website, they didn't respond at all.

Sounds like you got a defective pair to me. I've been using mine for a couple months and they are holding up great still.

Not sure why they wouldn't respond from the CSI website, but you can try pming COMBATSPORTS here on the forums to talk to Joe. He's the guy who has been helping me out and took care of me when the first pair I ordered turned out to be too small.

I believe he is out of town until Monday, though you may be able to catch him before he leaves. Good luck man.

Try to contact them again, preferably by phone. If what you're saying is true, I'm sure they'll exchange them for new ones. I bought some Windy gloves from MMAmuscle and the stitching started come apart. After trying for weeks to get hold of Paul at MMAmuscle, I finally contacted CSI and they offered to exchange the gloves for new ones right away.

All I can say is WOW! after I had gotten home from work and looked to see if anyone had responded to my post, I noticed I had a new PM in my box. Joe of combat sports had already sent me a message wanting to take care of the issue. He is sending me out 2 different pair of gloves for me to exchange. He, like you had said he believed this was an isolated incident and wants to see where the defect may have came from.

WAR COMBAT SPORTS!
