REVIEW: Asics CAEL v1 Shoes, Kneepads, and Shock Doc Shorts!

Another triple review.

I'll start with my Shock Doctor Compression shorts and Cup.

I originally ordered this and a white belt from Ron at SSFGear.com so do pick one up from him, he's a standup guy and always takes care of us here at G&E with his great service.

Prior to ordering this item I was wearing bike shorts, then a jockstrap with cup ontop of that, underneath my SPRAWL's or whatever I had been rolling in that night. It worked, but this is a much more convienient and comfortable setup. The shorts don't ride up on me, and the cup is the right size in proportion to what pants you order, though you can always substitute your cup with the one they give you in the Shock Docs.

The cup is plastic with a ****l plate running down the front, and the edges are made of rubber, which sits comfortably in the pouch. I can't really explain, like, how it sits against your package but it hasn't given me any problems yet.

I give the product a 10/10, it was the first style compression short to come out like this with the pouch for the cup I know alot of G&E use them, so right on!

Pick one up at www.ssfgear.com today, or sacrifice your balls to satan.

ASICS Cael Sanderson Version 1

My original pair of Cael's, since I bought these ASICS has released a version 2, which I do not have.

I can tell you these are great quality wrestling shoes, the rubber grips on the bottom (which I realise I should of taken a photo of now) are great, help me push through my takedowns and keeps my ankle steady. Quality goods here, but ASICS have been making shoes for years so you'd expect as much.

The Cael's use a weird lace support system, you basically have the laces then a cover which is a material that covers over one half, velcros down, then another pieces that velcros over the missing half, it works well and hasnt come loose for me ever yet. I tried to take a photo but I can't get the lighting right so this will have to do.

Here's Caels signature, for those who don't know, he's one of the best wrestlers of all time.

Overall 9/10, only because the closure system although effective, I worry how long the velcro will potentially last. I'd rather a loop down secure system, something I'm less likely to doubt.

I picked these up, and all my other wrestling gear at www.eastbay.com, fast, effective and safe shipping anywhere in the world.

Knee Pads in next post.

Asics Knee Pads.

I am unsure entirely which model these are, the first pictured ones were my original pair which I know where just single sleeve gel kneepads, they worked great but after 2-3 years of using them 3-4 times a week they started to die a bit.

A noteworthy rule of thumb, if you are unsure which size kneepad to get, go down a size. It's better to have one thats tight and will not slip down your knee than one which will and that you'll have to keep re-adjusting.

I like these new ones, which came free with my 2nd order of shoes (I own 2 different sizes of the Cael V1's), they are a different kind of gel padding, and a smaller size sleeve than my original singles. They've worked well for me so far, only having used them for a few months though, but most of Asic's Wrestling gear is top notch, and you really cannot go wrong with a pick. It's all preferene on your knee's though.

Overall 10/10, great knee pads, great for wrestling, or as a present to your significant other so they can go down on you in ease.

I Kid, I kid.

Good review Foz. Asics is my favourite brand of wrestling equipment. I have the Split Seconds at the moment. I'll probably upgrade later on this year.

I wouldnt mind split seconds at some stage, i'm used to the uni-sole setup, and split seconds are 2-way sole right (i.e. you can move the toes and shit without moving the whole foot, if that makes sense?)

Thanks Foz. I'm glad you like the SD. I also own those shoes and they help up for about 3 months (which is normal for me).

Also I've heard the compression shorts run a little small. Does the waist feel too tight at all Foz?

Yeah the Split Seconds have the two peice sole it allows a bit more movement in the toes than in a full soled shoe. If that makes sense.
