NEW!!!KO Fightgear MMA training/Shooto style gloves!

Hi Guys(and girls).

Well as some of you know I am a big fan of Neil at KO Fightgears stuff. For christmas my wife asked what did I want and I chose some 16oz boxing gloves and some shinpads to replace the crap ones I had been using.I arranged to get the stuff shipped to the UK.What I didnt know was that Neil had another xmas present in the box he sent out to me-3 pairs of the new KO Fightgear MMA training Shooto style gloves. He asked me to try them out and ask for feedback as he hopes to have them up on the site to sell in a few weeks time.

Now first off I must say that I have NOT been able to train in them as yet apart from a couple of rounds on pads.I am moving house and all my equipment is boxed up at the moment. So this (p)review is based upon the feel of the glove and my first impressions....

First off,the KO gloves are of a Shooto style(but you'd figured that out already from the title, right?).They are pretty much a copy of the Fairtex ones that I have already(that are packed up or I'd photograph them together so you could see them)

Right outta the box the gloves are nice and soft, big amount of padding upon the back. The KO logo is covered with a piece of clear plastic.Nice touch to protect the white logo in transit and save it from marking I thought.

The leather is nice and soft to start with and makes for a flexible glove.Sizewise I take a medium in the Fairtex(without wraps) and a medium in these KOs feel pretty identical so I would suggest that these are true to size in the Fairtexs so if you take a Medium in one it should be a medium in the other....I have a XL and L to try as well but I will need to see one of my students who has shovels for hands to use those....

The gloves are of an open palm type with a loop for each finger and a seperate loop (also padded) for the thumb. The leather is a little tough to start but you would expect that until they break in.

The gloves have a typical elastic wrist strap which you slide your hands through and then strap the glove on after putting your fingers into the relevant loops. The glove secures around the wrist via a velcro strap. The padding/glove stays in place well and does not shift around excessively in the few rounds that I have done.As I said they feel very similar to my Fairtex's and I have had no problems with them so I would expect the same with these KOs.The padding is nice and thick and soft enough.I would not spar full bore stand up in these(or the Fairtex's) but ground grappling and medium stand up would be fine I feel.

I do have an inkling of the price as Neil asked me if I would be willing to try these gloves and see how I thought the price stacks up and would I as an instructor be willing to buy them. The answer would be a catagoric yes,the price he has suggested I found to be very reasonable for a Shooto glove of this seeming quality..In fact I was pissed off because I had ordered 5 pairs of another glove which is of a similar price and I think that this is a superior glove in its padding and feel.Grrr....!!!!

As I have said,I have not had a full opportunity to train in these but they feel great on and having been punching myself in the head with them(!!!) as well the padding seems great too....

Picture of the Fairtexs below that I am comparing them with .

vu-yes but I ain't gonna tell ya ;-)

Like I said thats up to Neil.I just got the gloves given to me to see what I thought of them with a suggestion of price and would I be willing to pay X amount for them. And the answer was a definite yes. They will be very reasonably priced is what I will say if Neil goes ahead with what he suggested to me.TBH I'd be inclined to bite his hand off at that price.....

Thing is I have not done an exhaustive test on these yet. They feel great but the proof is in the training....

If they're on your computer, upload them to tinypic.com and post the stuff on here...or, just e-mail them to me or something and I'll do it for you...
