Naja Gold Weave Camo BJJ Gi - WWW.RDFC.TV

Naja Gold Weave Camouflage BJJ GI - Available at WWW.RDFC.TV

I will be reviewing this Kimono on behalf of Fozzy, as he does not have time to train BJJ at the moment and I train twice a week and instruct twice a week also.

Part 1 - Initial Impression

This gi looks very well made, and of course the camo pattern is very nice.

Top:

The top looks very nice quality with a lighter material than my two other gi's which will be good for the hot weather we have been having lately.

Pants

The pants are a much heavier material than the top, they feel a little stiff, but i think that will go after a wash or two.

Collar

I really like the collar on this, I also have a Gameness Platinum and a Padilla & Sons Gi, and this collar is very similar in thickness to the Padilla (the gameness is way too thick). The collar also has a rubber insert to help it dry faster.

Cuff's

Sleeve

Pants

I was hoping the pants cuff would be slightly longer so I could let it down a bit, because pants seem a bit short.

Re-inforcing
Pants - Side

Gi-Top Side

Underarm

Crotch

The crotch doesn't have reinforcing which is a shame, becuase the gi is exceptionally well made and an extra small amount of re-inforcing around the crotch panel would have added to that.

Ties

There is not much to bitch about this gi, but if I could pick one thing it would b the ties, ideally the ends should be folded in and stitched, but as you can see here they just end with some loose stitching, and i am sure with a couple of washes this will start fraying, i may tie knots in the end to prevent that.

Stitching

The stitching on this gi is the best I have seen (other than the finishing of the ties). Triple stitched along every seem, with not a loose thread to be found.

Knee Patch

The knee panel is a must in a high-end gi, it is the first place to rip on most gi's so it is good to see.

Conclusion:
So far I love this gi, it will go into heavy rotation to break it in and after a little while i will cycle it wih my other 2 gi's. But i can see this being my most used gi, as it is nice and light, and the rubber collar should help with drying time.

My only gripes are the finishing of the ties, the lack of crotch re-inforcing, and the bagginess of the pants. My pet peeve of every gi I have owned (not just this gi) is the sizing is for stumpy midgets, the jacket fits perfect but the pants are too short and i have to pull the ties in so much, that there is way too much gathering all around the gi. I guess i need to put on some weight to fill into them :-)

I will follow up with more photo's once i have broken it in and have report on how this gi fares in actual use.

nice review, love the detailed pictures.

Just curious isn't the crotch the first place to rip on gi pants? I know you mentioned the knee panel but I never thought of the knee area as the weak link on gi pants, hell I even rolled in some super aoft and light tae kwon do pants back in the day which had no knee panel and i had no issues.

If all the stitching holds then i would think the knee would be the first place that wears through, generally with most gi's the stitching gives way before any of the material actually rips.
