My review of Title 20oz gel bag gloves

Got these bad boys yesterday. A little background: I got these because I have enough arthritis in my hands, elbows and shoulders to affect my daily life so I need to make any impact of my punching as soft as possibe. I tried the gel wraps and liner gloves and as we all know they are good idea with a terrible execution. So I either found a better glove than the ones I was using or I was going to have to punch less.

The gloves cost $60- plus $10- shipping and I got them in four days. I hate going by BW for glove sizing because I'm 100lbs over my pre-training weight. My hand is a size 10.5 so after reading other reviews about these gloves being tight in the box but long on the strap I decided to go with a size large. As you can see from the photos my hands are a tight fit even without wraps but I like a snug fit and when these gloves break in they will fit just the way I like them. With wraps on I'm still able to cinch the second glove with my teeth. If there is any doubt though go with the XL.

The gloves are imported from our favorite slave labor country and the finish is outstanding. No loose threads or anything like that. The left glove seems kinda off angle slightly but that is probably an optical illusion and I haven't felt a difference in it with two bag workouts. My boxing coach was impressed at the workmanship and the incredibly small size for a 20oz glove, he initially thought they were 12oz gloves. The lining of the glove wasn't noticably hot or wet when I was done and the impact of the gloves on the bag was definately noticable. The softest I've felt yet but I was still in no way fooled into thinking I wasn't hitting a heavy bag as some have suggested. The wrist support is really good and the glove feels really balanced. I don't feel like I'm wearing 20oz until I'm really tired. I enjoyed hitting with these gloves and am excited about them which says a lot because I'm not a gear junkie. I don't care for the graphics on the gloves as I think gloves should come in all kinds of colors and paterns: matte black. The price is fair but is as high as I would go for gloves with this level of features, performance and workmanship.

They told me 20oz for the bag gloves, 16oz for the training gloves.

Title is listing these gloves as 16oz. I weighed them at 18+oz FWIW.

I'll get the cons out of the way first: I've had the title gel bag gloves for about 8 months. First, they are absolutely not 20 oz. Mine are sized as regular, which MIGHT be 16 oz. gloves. I got two different stories from title four different times. Two people told me they were 20 oz. gloves and two told me that they are around 16 oz., but each pair varies slightly.

Second, they seem to wear out quickly. Although the gel lining is great, the first layer of foam seems to pull apart -- a problem that title is well-aware of. As I'm sparring, I have to try to move my hand around in the glove to get the foam out from between my fingers. According to the folks at title, these gloves should ideally last between a year and a year and a half. However, mine certainly feel short of a year.

Ok, these are the ONLY draw backs I've found. These gloves otherwise rock! I've been 100% satisfied with the gloves, despite the foam becoming displaced. They have great knuckle protection, very comfortable (until the foam separates), the wrist closures are awesome. (Of course, if you have small wrists like me, you'll probably find that the closures aren't snug unless you wear wraps.) Absolutely no breaking in period. They mold very well to your hands. And the vain part of me must say that they also look great.

BY THE WAY, even though I've had these gloves for eight plus months, title is sending me a new pair because of the problem with the foam. I do have to pay shipping, but that's a small price to pay for these gloves.

Again, GREAT GLOVES -- the most comfortable glove you'll ever put on. Looks great, feels great, protects very well. However, you might have to replace them in a year. As far as I'm concerned, the pros COMPLETELY outweigh the cons. Title is a GREAT company that stands behind its products. When they say 'satisfaction guaranteed,' they mean it.
