KO Fightgear Shin Guards

Shin Guards - KO Fightgear

Super Heavy Duty Leather Shin Guards.
Nice raised Ridge over the Shin Bone.
The only thing that bothered me is that the lower strap is too long but I guess a giant might need them (I'm 6'1" 215). Might trim it later.

One thing to know about these is that they are hard.
My other Shin Guards are the standard Fairtex and they are soft.
I use them when I am coaching and the other person doesn't have to wear guards.
I can kick them and Leg Check...great for beginners.

With the KO, a Leg Check will still hurt THEM a bit (though not as bad as if I wasn't wearing guards). Kicks to the Thigh while wearing these guards still dig in (unlike the Fairtex).

I used the KO under Baseball Catcher's SHin Guards when I am coaching Shoe/Toe Kicks to the Shin and hard Oblique Stomp kicks. For lighter kicks to the Shin they are fine on their own.

So....GREAT for harder contact and tougher use.
Much less Bulky than standard Fairtex.
They stay in place really well.
Will be buying more of these for students for sure.

They break in and soften up a bit. Once you break them in they aren't so rough on training partners.

A few updates....

(1)
Wore them without shoes today.
At first they are pretty abrasive on your feet.
I got the XL and my height is right in the middle on their sizing chart.
I didn't want them to be small as I let people kick me a LOT (when coaching).
The instep guards touch my toes at this size.
I bet the L wouldn't have.
I almost always train in shoes so I don't really care.

(2)
TIGHTEN THE STRAPS and work the bend into the leather to fit your leg
and they will stay in place.
These straps will allow you to really lock these guards in place.
Nice

(3)
I kicked a heavybag for a while....
You have to be careful with these with a partner because they allow you to kick really hard without feeling it.
I put big dents in my bag with them...looks just like when I kick without guards (I kick hard).
Softer guards like my Fairtex wouldn't pound the bag in like that.

I'm going to break them in some more on the heavybag.

I like mine, too. Very solid. They hold up well to tough use.

My only complaint is that the finishing tape used around the edges is rough and was giving me raw spots on my toes. Now I wrap a little tape around my toes at the contact point and good to go.
