KO FightGear - Punch Mitts - Review
Well I've had these long enough to give a pretty good review.
i have a habit of putting my name on things when i first get them so i mosiac'd my name in the pictures .. also, they didn't come with a target dot, so i used my black sharpie and drew them on..
Dimensions:
11 1/2" tall
7 3/4" at the widest point
approx. 2.5" thick
Quality
when i first opened the box a few months ago, i remember thinking, that they're very bulky... however these things look well-made and would last me a while... the pads were surprisingly light for its size... One of the things that led me to purchase these mitts was the hook n loop velcro fastener for adjustability bcuz i have very small hands and was afraid other mitt designs would be too big.
Performance
The padding absorbs the blow quite well but i figured out that it doesn't make that sweet "pop" noise unless u hit it closer to the top of the pad.
never once have they fallen off and it gets the job done.
Comfort
one thing i noticed with the velcro fasteners is that you do NOT need to make it really tight at all really.. just tight enough to be comfortable.. for me, i adjust the velcro once, and then i can just slip them on without having to deal with the velcro again which is nice.. when i put them on the first thing i noticed are that the hand compartments are very flat. the finger holes are good to grip but when i do, my hand curves a little and doing that on a flat pad is a little awkward.... It also gets a little sweaty in there so i wear my handwraps when using it and make my friends wear theirs as well when they put them on.. lol
Conclusion
overall color scheme is nice.. i love red and black.. the mitts themselves aren't very aesthetically pleasing but functionality is what's important right? lol..
i have nothing to compare them to (except for the extremely low-end everlast ones found at dept stores, but that's not fair comparison), as these are my first pair of punch mitts but when the time comes to get some new mitts (which isn't gonna be anytime soon.. these are well-made) i'd like to try out some high-end mitt designs to get the feel of them.. my gripe is probably the general design and not the mitts themselves.. anyway, i think i'm gonna try out some curved mitt designs when i get the chance..
these are a good pair of mid-end mitts for ppl not wanting to spend a bundle for fairtex/windy's and other high-end gear.. especially when these are on sale..
Overall Score: 8/10 (not great, but not bad... it's "good")
