Kimono Fighter (KF) Gold Weave gi review from Brazilianfightwear.com *lots of pics*

Ok guys so I know this is way overdue as I purchased this gi last year! This gi is a Gold weave (my favorite!) and I got an A1 as I am 5'6" and I weigh about 135-145. I only have pictures of them after nearly a year of use so I don't have any of them pre-wash.

pros
-the shipping from Brazil to Hawaii was only $9.95! Is that amazing or what?! I know it takes a month to get to me but still. SO many other places charge absurd prices for shipping and even mainland USA to Hawaii will run me about $20. If Pedro from BFW can manage only $10 shipping for a gi from Brazil to Hawaii, I don't see why other mainland shippers can't mach that as they are closer than Brazil. OK, onto more about the gi.
-The gi is tough, durable, and thin. I did not say light as it does feel heavy when I hold it but when I wear it, I can't feel it being as heavy anymore.
-DId I mention the collar? THe collar can't be any more thicker than the collar on most other gis and may actually be thinner than some gis. But it is extremely stiff. The collar is about the same as a Padilla and Sons goldweave and and Atama 7 Mundial but it very very stiff. Unlike the others, I am unable to bend the collar in half. I have heard the stiffness is comparable to a HCK, just not as thick.
-The gi is cut and fit very nicely and snug to my body type.
-The patches are very nice and make the gi look quite stylish.
-THe pants are very tough and virtually nobody will rip them.
-The entire gi is durable. Besides visual tainting of white color from use. the condition of the gi still feels nearly the exact same as when I took the gi out of the shipping box it came in. I have been using the gi 3-4x a week for about 10 months now. THat is quality my friends.

Cons
-The price. The thing took a big hit on my wallet as it cost me $175 total. Not too bad as some other gis come close to it or even surpassing the price.
-The pants are an issue. Although perfectly good material, they shrunk so much! I dried on low heat and it shrunk a little bit. I never dried in the machine again and just continued to hang dry it. It eventually shrunk nearly all the way to my mid shin. It used to be just above my ankle or a little shorter. Now they look like capri pants or a thick pair of yoga pants. BTW, I use them for yoga also and they rock for that purpose though! BUt, they are BJJ pants primarily and the shrinkage was very unexpected. The top did not shrink noticeably a lot. The pants now are obviously illegal length for any gi bjj tournament.

It is time I wrote a review after all the use I have given this gi. I decided to write this review since I am now about to purchase myself another awesome kimono very soon from BrazilianFIghtwear. I plan on getting this one soon.

SHOULDER PATCHES

ME WITH THE GI

Notice I have my school and association patches all on the gi already. Only the patches that say Kimono Fighter on them came with the gi. They are the ones I provided close up pictures of the patches. The green and yellow on the shoulders were included. No close ups of the patches, not included with purchase.

I will update with some pics of me competing in it and measurements later on. Hope this review helps with anyone wondering about these gis.

Pedro from brazilianfightwear.com gives excellent service btw and is very prompt with emails.

Nova Uniao!!!!!

I had this kimono in A3 and it was a nice kimono! I sold it on though as it was a little too thick/heavy for me and I went for something lighter in the Atama Mundial Gold weave

The pants are a bit small for you!!!

they were ok when they came but they slowly shrunk to that size. the waistline however, is perfect it is just the length. I am afraid though if I go to an A2 pants, that might have more an effect on the waistline than the length. I just need a longer length

mine came with all the KF patchwork since it is the gold weave and that was the design. The black/red triangle patch in the back, the small bfw1.com patch in the back and the blue swirly patch on the side on the rib are the ones I both added. But now it has been changed and if you get the same gold weave it comes blank. I think the black single will be blank too
