JACO T-shirt review (review of shorts and cup system to follow)

There's been a lot of buzz here lately about JACO, so being a bit of a gear hound I wanted to see for myself.

I recently purchased some fight shorts and a cup system from JACO. I also picked up some t-shirts as I liked the designs and wanted to give them a try in person.

There has been a lot said already about the fight shorts and cup system, so I'll start with the t-shirts and finish off with a few thoughts about the shorts and cup system (in a follow up post, as there is a 6 image limit per post).

First of all, these are the first "MMA" t-shirts I've ever purchased. I'm a 37yr old family man and white-collar business owner, so many of the aggressive current MMA shirt designs and slogans on the market don't appeal to me at all.

What attracted me right off the bat to JACO were the creative and atypical designs. Some of the shirts are symetrical, others are asymetrical, but to me all of the designs are really well thought out and balanced. I also thought the pricing was really reasonable.

For context re. fit, I'm 6,1", 185lbs and lean. The mannequins in the images have a build similar to mine, and I liked the way they seemed to fit, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

These were the shirts I picked up:

Greenpeace Cotton T-Shirt

Matador Cotton Cotton T-Shirt

Midnight Curl Cotton T-Shirt

^These shirts are the "Classic" line, and at $25 each I think they are a real bargain.

Everyone has a different body type but these shirts fit me incredibly well. They are a light 100% cotton and feel great, and are snug in the arms, shoulders and chest without being too restrictive, and are lean in the body but not too much so.

I find the sleeves are also a good length. Not too short but not too long. All in all these shirts fit me exactly how I wanted them to, and I'm very pleased. If you're fit and you want it to show in a casual setting, these are a great choice.

One question I had was that the shirts appeared in the photos to be a little long. That turned out not to be an issue for me, but a shorter person may find it a little on the long side.

Highly recommended.

Mens Walkout T-Shirt - Black

^This shirt fits me like the classic shirts above (the "Slim Fit" according to the JACO website), so what I said there applies here as well.

One thing to note about this shirt is that whereas in the website images the printing on the shirt appears to be white, in fact it's more like a dark tan - which was a nice surprise. It looks better than I expected.

Resurgence Bamboo T-Shirt - Black

^It wasn't my favourite design of the five shirts, but I liked it and wanted to see what the bamboo/cotton blend was like. As advertised, this one is extremely comfortable.

It is described by JACO as an "Athletic Fit", looser than the "Slim Fit", and it is. The arms are broader and the body is looser.

I like the shirt, but for my particular build I prefer the "Slim-Fit" line. The website suggests sizing down if you want an "Athletic Fit" shirt to fit like a "Slim Fit", so that's something to consider.

---

All in all JACO can count me as one of its fans. They're off to a great start and I'm going to be watching closely for new gear and designs as they come out.

A couple of the shirts are in the wash now so I'll add more detail if the fit changes, etc...

Hope you found the review useful. (review of shorts and cup system to follow)
