Initial Opinion on Ringside Panther Mitts, IMF Bag Gloves, Body Protector
I received my shipment the other day of Ringside's Panther Punch Mitts, IMF Tech Bag Gloves, and Advanced Body Protector.
I can't exactly do a review since I haven't trained with them yet but I did want to just give my initial opinions on the stuff from trying them on in my office.
Panther Punch Mitts - Without a doubt the nicest punch mitts i've ever seen/worn. The ones I would use when at my friends would always come loose and after a couple punches you'd have kinda get them back snug by pushing the top against your hip or something. These mitts don't have any velcro or buckle or anything but because of the curved design there is like a soft padded lump about the size of half a softball. This lump makes them comfortable in your hand and keeps them very snug on your hand. Off course I haven't taken punches with them but they feel very snug and I look forward to seeing if they stay put as good as I think they will. Fit and finish is excellent. A very good looking mit.
Advanced Body Protector - This thing looks awesome and and I can't wait to use it. I've never used a body protector before so I don't really have anything to compare it to. I also can't really try it on as it seems to be a two person job to get it on and tight. There's some suspender type adjustable straps that you slip into and then two snapping buckles at the mid and lower back. Seems like it'll be really good at holding the thing in place on you once you get it on snug but I can't really judge that yet. Fit and finish looks excellent as well.
IMF Tech Bag Gloves - I gotta admit that these were my favorite of the items. These things look awesome and the fit and finish is the best of the three things I got. They fit great, a little tight (i ordered mediums rather then large) though with full wraps, I'm guessing the leather will stretch out a little with time. I may just get some junior wraps to wear with them. The D-ring for the closure strap thingy is cool and leads to a very secure fit. The lining on the inside feels great (i think it's called tricot)...so damn comfortable. Also there is padding around the wrist area which makes it very secure, which would help with wrist injuries. There's also the actual IMF foam system that's supposedly made just for heavy bag usage and whatnot but obviously I haven't been able to test out this aspect of the gloves. I plan on doing a couple rounds with these and then some regular Super Bag gloves to see the difference. I love these gloves...I have Windy Training gloves and really like them and they are a great quality glove but I gotta say these IMF bag gloves are a level higher then the Windy's in quality and function. They also make an IMF training glove and I must say when my Windy's wear out (or more then likely even before they wear out) my next training glove will be IMF ones to go with my bag gloves. If anyone is in the market for a bag glove I say take advantage of Ringside's catalog holiday sale and pick these up (a steal at $55 imo)
EDIT:
Oh forgot about the free mexican wraps I got. The mexican wraps i've used in the past (CSI wraps) have just had a strip of cloth about 1-1.5" wide for the velcro closure part. These ringside ones (they're yellow) have velcro over the entire width of the wrap for the closure part instead of a strip. Much more secure as in the past i have ripped that narrow cloth part off on older wraps then trying to tighten them.
