SSF Black Thai Glove Review *pics*

I thought about just adding this to the red glove review that I did for Ron several months ago but I decided to make it it’s own thread b/c the gloves are actually different enough to warrant a separate review. They are the same price ($53.50) but they do have their differences and ill try to clearly describe them so you can find which glove is right for you.

Most of the construction is the same; great quality and materials so here is the link to the Red Thai glove review that I did if you want more detailed info on that: SSF Fairtex/Mexican Style glove review *pics*

But here is where the gloves differ, most of this will make since with the pics posted below. The short is that the black glove is more of a hybrid between a Thai glove and a Boxing glove. The thumb for example is not as high as on the Thai glove but not as low as a boxing glove. Look at the pics of the red and black glove side-by-side palm up and notice the thumb position. I found that I can make a fit easier and tighter, but I can’t clinch quite as well. Also you can see from the other comparison pic that the Thai gloves have a larger fist area for punching.

Both the gloves are great and I’m glad that I have both because both have there small perks, but I thought the black gloves were more comfortable for bag work and that is the main difference in the two. The good news is both are awesome and you can’t go wrong, you just need to decide what you’re mainly going to be using them for. More boxing and bag work I would go with the Black gloves, more traditional Muay Thai with clinching and a lot of sparring I would go with the Red.

Here are the black Thai gloves knuckles up:

"balls on" I can say that's the first time I have read that before.
