These are arguably the best shin guards on the market.

I like mine, but they don't provide the kind of protection that my Fairtex Pros provided. I got an extremely deep bruise (requiring rehab/physio) through my Hayabusas in hard sparring.
They are light, very comfortable and stay in place...but the padding in on on the light side.
I sold my Fairtex Pros after buying the Hayabusas, but since discovering the limitations of the padding I've ordered some Top King shinguards to use when hard sparring.

How did the Fartex's and how do the Top Kings hold up in other areas, like support and comfort, to the hayabusa's?

The Fairtex Pros provided excellent protection even when hard sparring, but I found that they slipped around on me unless I really cinched the straps up tight...in which case I found the straps kind of uncomfortable. The Hayabusas are in some ways the opposite...extremely comfortable and stay in place perfectly, but protection is on the light side. Perfect for anything but hard sparring IMO.
The Top Kings are on order from Thailand, should have them in a week or so.
I'm still planning on keeping and using the Hayabusas, but (assuming they fit and are comfortable) I'll be turning to the Top Kings for those times when I need more protection.

It seems nearly all of the 'grappling/mma' shin guards are like that regarding the amount of protection they provide. Or does someone know of a brand otherwise?
Also, I could be wrong, but it seems to be that the Combat Sports mma shinguards have the exact same design, but the added benefit of being cheaper:

They don't look as nice as the Hayabusa's though. ;)

I think that's accurate.
Generally speaking, kicks in MMA lack the force of Muay Thai strikes because they're thrown with the risk of takedowns in mind. Highly protective shin guards are less necessary.

i had some as well. they should be for light sparring only. unless your a major thai boxing veteran with shiny calloused shins and don't fell shit anymore.
stay in place very well but the padding is a bit in the light side.
