hayabusa gear review

I would like to start out by saying I purchased my gear from ebay. I found an ebay store that has the lowest prices by far that I found while searching online. Im not going to plug the store so youll have to search it out yourself.

I purchased Hayabusa MMA gear for the following reasons. It looked better than the majority of the gear I saw. It is a canadian product and I am canadian which made me feel all warm and patriotic inside... And id heard it was an overall quality product.

When my stuff arived my first impressions where great. I had ordered the white shorts, white MMA gloves, white shin gaurds, ashi-foot grips- and the head protector. Everything looked great, sexy even.

White shorts - By far the product out of the 5 I am happiest with. The white theme looks awesome, im just a novice fighter but I looked exceptionally deadly this afternoon infront of the mirror. The fit was perfect, the velcro strap was intresting, ive never had shorts like that before but once I got the jist of it everything was gravy

White MMA gloves - Very very good looking product. They however felt like shit. The only thing harder and more painful than putting them on was trying to take them off. It was while I was trying to get my pointer finger out of its sleve that I noticed the "made in china" tag. So much for my patriotism, I thought at least Hayabusa could of hired canadians to sew their stuff together but buisness before patriotism. Overall the gloves felt very uncomfortable however I feel that with a little breaking in they will do nicely, as with any close fitting gear a little discomfort is to be expected

White shin gaurds - Perfect product. They hug the calf perfectly, very snug, it was tempting not to rush to my gym and beat the bag a few times with them but I had to get back to class. Comfortability was ok, a little hard going on and comming off, but again thats to be expected with tight fit gear.

Ashi-foot grips - Why did I buy these? im not too worried about traction but when I saw them and read a few reviews I thought they must be gods gift to traction. Surely these footgrips would give me an immesurable advantage over a foe with mere footsoles to keep him stuck to the floor. However when I tested there traction I really felt let down. I was not glued to the ground at all. Of course unrealistic dreams unrealistic results. For what they are, and the price of $30-40 they are really a decent product. One complaint. They have 2 sizes. The smaller size they say goes up to size9 feet, and then the larger size goes from size 9 up(i am exactly size 9 foot). Not wanting to buy them and have them be too big and loose i went for the smaller size. God was it hell getting them on and off. Hopefully theyll get stretched out after I wear them a week or so. Thats the price I pay for being size 9. I would recommend to anyone who is also size 9 to get the smaller ones anyway. Its far better to have a snug grip than a loose one imo.

haybusa head protector - or whatever its called....um, decent looking, kind of an awkward fit but im a square headed kraut. I self punched myself a few times to test how it felt under fire and heres what I found.
Jaw protection - great
Chin protection - great
Forhead protection - good
Temple protection - great
Ear protection - aweful, I would not want to get socked full bore in the ear weaing this thing

overall marks

Appearance - 5/5 youll be the envy of your dojo, all the cheerleaders practicing in the gym next to you will want your phone number
Functionality - 3/5 the products feel like they would function awesome...after a longer-than-should-be break in period, but for now a few of the products (gloves, helmet) feel jagged
Comfort - 2/5 If your buying for comfort join Kung-Fu, they have awesome silk robes.
Durability - NA/5 cant comment, havent battle tested them yet but they have given me no reason to believe they will break down or thread out.

Overall score - 79% good overall product, a few irritants but not enough to make me wish Id bought something else, very happy with purchase.

P.S ill post pictures in a day or so

Head gear is meant to stop cuts primarily. Defensive tactic will protect your ears. If the head gear did there would be even less ventilation and you brain would cook from the heat.

In my own personal experience, they BEST Hayabusa gear is the shinguards, shorts, and boxing gloves.

The Hayabusa shinguards I have are just heavenly compared to my old ones.

Overall my personal rating for Hayabusa gear is very good. Expensive, but worth the price for high-end equipment

One of my students has the shinguards and he loves them to death. They do look pretty sexy too.

Even though we don't have the big companies like Title and Ringside, I'm that we have two of the best (if a bit more pricey) companies in Rival and Hayabusa.
They just need to get more 'extra's and I'll be very happy.

I agree, if they brought their prices down 10% to a more realistic value-price ratio it would make me happier too.

Nice review. I'm tempted to pick up a pair of those shinguards. I've never really loved the Fairtex pair I have. Not bad but not great either.

How do the Ashi foot grips compare to a normal pair of ankle supports?

Like has been said before, the shin gaurds are possibly the best product Hayabusa makes. I would recommend them, even if you already have a pair of shin gaurds, they are simply and elite product.
