Icon14 Hayabusa Carbon Mechanix Shorts Review *pics*

Hey guys..Just thought I'd write up a review for these shorts. Before you buy these shorts, you should know that these shorts run small. When I first ordered these shorts I got a 30-31 and they around a 28-30 in the waist. I then returned that pair for a size 32-34 and they fit perfectly. The construction of these shorts are quite complex and high tech compared to other shorts. The velcro system, material and stitching look great. The logo(s) are embroidered on the short, no screen print on the short. The waistband has a rubber logo on it. The closure system is a one of the most advanced velcro system I have ever seen. The drawstring doesn't stick to the velcro when it touches it (Thank God). The velcro system/drawstring provide maximum security. The side flex panels (Side Slit) is unique. Although, the part where the side split seam ends looks like it could rip from just one strong pull. WRONG, Hayabusa used a triple bar-tack across that split seam to ensure it is very strong. The triple-stitch makes the seam much stronger than just a simple single stitch that is usually used. I've tried these on like 3 times already and people grab my shorts and grab near the side slit and it's pretty durable. These feel great when rolling or even for standup. For those of you who don't know what the whole deal is about the "Carbon Mechanix" or the "Thermo Regulation"..well let me try to explain it to you all.

They used the name "Carbon" because they utilized some sort of fabric in their shorts that is embedded with activated carbon molecules. These molecules help create a high-tech body temperature regulation system that will help keep you cool during training. The "Mechanix" part of the name describes the high abrasion resistance, optimal stretch, superior shape retention, in addition to allowing excellent freedom of movement. "Thermo Regulation" simply means, that it'll keep you cool/warm depending on your body temperature. Something like that .

Overall Rating:

9.5/10

Hayabusa has gone it's way on making the most advanced shorts on the market...but the only thing that bugs me is the side split seam slit. BUT, I was just informed from Craig himself that they have used a triple bar-tack across that split seam to ensure it is very strong. "The triple-stitch makes the seam much stronger than just a simple single stitch that is usually used." These shorts are great..the velcro system is great, the materials they use, and all that good stuff. These shorts are great, as they have a long side split seam which provides a full range of motion. I can roll without hesitation of it bunching up, or having to worry about the shorts being soaked in sweat. I was amazed at how cool these shorts kept me during training.

The shorts also came with a little Tag that explained the features of these shorts more thoroughly

For those of you who don't know the Link to the Hayabusa site, you can go here www.HayabusaFightWear.com and order them. They have different colors.

One more thing, Craig/Team Hayabusa are great people to work with when ordering stuff. Their customer service is great and they're all nice. Ordering/Returning was a breeze with Craig/Hayabusa (I had some problems with ordering and some problems with my order) and it was easy resolving the problems unlike other companies. Keep it up Hayabusa.

Long inseam is great for me, (32x34 pant) I might have to pickup a pair once I get decent enough to justify such a purchase.

How much did you pay?

^ It's $49.99USD and $59.99CAN ..Might be pricey for some of you, but these shorts are great . Besides, a lot of other companies..like Warrior Wear or Hitman (Only for example) are sorta in the same price range as the Hayabusa's. Email Craig/Hayabusa for sizing info/questions. Oh, and shipping is a flat rate of $7.00USD/$8.00CAN. Shipping is fast as well.

Scratch my last comment... I might have to pickup a pair of these in a few months/years when they are in the clearance section
