Icon13 Forty Thieves Shorts

I dont know what they were thinking when they made these shorts....

The "elastic" wasteband is only elastic on the inside (as seen in photos). The outside portion of the waste is made out of the same material as the rest of the pants. THE WAIST DOESN'T STRETCH. No elasticity to it at all.

I dont know if these shorts fit perfectly on someone out there, but even if they do, I dont know what keeps them from sliding upwards since its not elastic at all. They dont have a draw string or any other method to tigthen them. You can't tighten with the velcro, its only made for closure, not to tighen.

I ordered a size 30 (size 30 sprawls fit me nice and tight) and surprisingly these are too big for me. They dont fall down at my ankles or anything, they just dont stay in place.
It's not loose enough for me to kick in either.

I'm sending these back for a pair of sprawls. Don't consider getting these shorts (odds are stacked heavily against you for a fit). If you're a kicker, definately don't get these shorts.

Sorry forty thieves, but you make crappy grappling shorts.

Personally, I love mine. I understand what you say about the false stretch of the waste and it is a very valid point. But mine fit perfectly and the velcro system is tons better than the ones on TapouT or the old Sprawls with the rubber.

The style is nice, the material is great and the neoprene crotch is sweet.

Different strokes for different folks.

The system itself is very secure and a good idea, but when rolling, that velcro digs into your stomach.

Actually, now that you mention the velcro system, I really dislike it and find it cheap. If you were to try to tighten the velcrow strap, instead of it being mis-aligned, it will also bulge out and you'll basically have an open zipper.

The sprawls I bought about a year ago are way better at everything, and definately the velcro.

You only grapple in your shorts right? I'm still surprised you dont have to keep pushing them back in place. These are a pair of shorts, and not a fashion statement. They should provide function above all else.

If you fit the shorts *exactly* I would imagine they'd be great... if you're anything smaller than the exact size of the shorts they aren't going to fit well. Clinchgear has the same problem.
