Purchased from Fairtex at fairtex.com (USA location).

About Purchase:

Fairtex responded to my pre-purchase email inquiries and questions, promply and with polite detailed answers to my questions. Placing an order online was smooth and efficient. Website is well laid out and item size, color, and stock availability is shown. Confirmation email was sent within 24 hours, and purchase was promptly shipped. Item was received within 2-3 days and well packaged. Shipment included free extra items such as (1) Fairtex decal, and (2) Fairtex Muay Thai Thailand CD's which showed Fairtex Bangplee in Thailand, and some training / fighting content.

About Product:

It is no big secret to most people by now that Fairtex products are at the higher end price range, as it pertains to muay thai gear. And, it is also no big secret by now to most people that the name Fairtex is consistent with high quality, top of the line products. The first thing that you will notice about Fairtex muay thai shorts is that they are on the "pricey" side for most of us. So, the obvious question is, "are they worth the price?" The short answer is, if they fall within your budget, I would say, "yes, absolutely."

The design, material, quality, and workmanship of their shorts is excellent. As soon as I opened these shorts, it was apparent that they are very well made, professional quality shorts, and the attention to detail is obvious. The material is a heavy duty satin, the colors are vibrant, and they feel like a top quality product. The waist band is wide, has an embroidered Fairtex logo patch on the front, and the standard internal drawstring. Design accents are made from additional material, and meticulously stitched on with fancy stitching that is more consistent with the work of an artisan, than a run of the mill factory worker. Stitching through out was excellent. The shorts have the obvious gussetted crotch panel, and a side "v" cut on the outside of the legs. Leg room for movement is excellent. They also have a separate rolled circular strip of material accent that is sewn into the leg hole edges, which is a nice touch, and should also prevent premature fraying.

Fairtex seems to size most of their products toward the western sizing equivelants, and their muay thai shorts are no exception to this. I am 6' 1" and 210 lbs., and wear a size 34" waist in jeans, and the x-large size in their shorts fit me perfectly. Just a quick note: I prefer my muay thai shorts on the larger, rather than smaller size as a matter of personal preference, however, Fairtex sizing is accurate, so make your choices accordingly. I like the fact that the Fairtex sizing runs, (large: 32"-34" then x-large: 35"-37"), as opposed to the usual (32", 34", 36", 38"), because, if you fall within that size range, you will know whether you are the large, or x-large, as opposed to usual question of, "I wonder if I am 34", 36" or 38" in their particular sizing range?"

Are there nice quality shorts out there for less money? Yes. Are the Fairtex shorts worth the extra cost if you can afford them? I would have to say, yes, they really are.

I would rate these shorts a 5/5 stars for quality, materials, design, workmanship, and price.

I hope that this review was helpful.

Unfortunately, I do not have any personal experience with the Boon shorts, since I do not own any, but from what I hear, Boon makes very nice quality shorts.

Love the red on the shorts, looks different. $60 bucks is a hefty price for MT shorts though let us know how they hold up during training.
