Fairtex Boxing Gloves

I recently decided to purchased a pair of gloves for kickboxing classes I have been attending for around 3 months. Let me start by saying that I am no expert in gloves by any means, but considering you didn't have a review for this brand of glove, I thought I would write you one anyways, you never know... there may be someone who refers to it at some point... on with the review!

Fairtex Boxing Gloves 10 oz

As I ripped open the parcel containing my gloves, the first thing I noticed was the impressive design of the gloves. I personally went for the two tone gloves, the out side being black with a large 'fairtex' logo and the palm being white.
The sleek shape was also admirable, the gloves are a lot 'firmer' than other gloves I had used in the gym. This does come at a small price - which I shall mention later in the review, but for appearence, when on, they do not look stupidly big (like pillows tied to your hands) they look pretty impressive.

How do they feel to wear? Well I personally liked them, I have relatively average sized hands and they never felt loose at all around the palm or wrist, probably due to the very good velcroe. The space for the fingers allows you to grip tightly and have good control of your gloves movements. They feel very light (10oz) and therefore I didn't have any problem with my movement.
How do they feel to hit or block with? I think they are OK, the hardness of the gloves may be because they are new. But unlike the gloves at the gym, they are not so soft that it feels like a cushion when you hit somebody. This will probably wear in after a while, but I would be careful that your gym allows you to spar with these from new. For blocking I was very impressed, their firm texture allows you to really move into your guards and take a shot.

Conclusion... In my opinion, if you are looking for a fair of boxing gloves to whack a back, these may be a bit hard on your hands, but if you are looking for a serious pair of gloves to spar with and don't mind the red knuckles after a hard sessions, these are probably some of the best quality gloves on the market. I would also suggest you go for a pair of matching fairtex shorts to get the full effect.

Just a quick addition to my review...

I don't know if most of you guys wear hand wraps under your gloves, but if thinking about gettign these gloves I would recommend that you do. For general sparing I don't tend to wear them, but at home on the punching bag the other day I put some on and they felt a lot more snug and comfortable. Pretty obvious, but I thought I would mention it any ways.

I'll add that I've had these gloves since 2002 and after 3-4 years of use (1-3 times a week) I have just started looking for a replacement.

They'll last most people forever.

Their designed for bag and pad work,i'm suprised you went with 10 oz. I would've reccomended 12 oz. if your gonna do bag and pad work, and 16 oz. are the norm for sparring,if you went up in ounces your hand would'nt hurt so much, boxing gloves for competition are 10 oz.

I was going to say the exact same thing. Id hate to spar with somone wearing 12oz's.

In general I feel 14oz's are perfect if you want just one pair for everything (MMA Class, KB Sparing, Bag Work, etc)

If you can afford to own two pair then I'm fond of the 12oz or 14oz for bag and light MMA with a 16oz pair for KB Sparing.

Just my 2 cents though.

If I sparred with 10 oz. I would feel like I was cheating. I use my 16 oz Windy's for bag, pad and sparring.

why bother using a light glove at all? 16oz is/should be the standard for bag, pad, and sparring...

...and I'm not sure about your final comment on getting Fairtex shorts for "the full effect", but sounds kinda poser-y

Not exactly poser-y, but in general if you have one of the best MMA equipment companies in the world who make both shorts and gloves and have them both in simular colours, logic would dictate you buy them of ypu can afford them...
