Thanks for the info guys. I guess I'll go with the 14 oz Fairtex gloves (same model as in this review). Do you reckon these will fit if 16 oz Twins gloves are a little bit too wide for my hands? I'm slightly worried since I have to order them online and I don't know anywhere to try them on.
I have small hands... and the fairtex 14 oz fits fine... especially if you use 180' wraps...

On a side note, ECS123. In that last part of your post, did you mean that Twins 14 oz are considerably smaller than the 16 oz Twins? If that's the case I might as well go with 14 oz Twins and save some money. Thanks.
they're smaller.. now, are you after better padding or a more compact fit??

here are my pos and cons

fairtex pros: feels great
compact size
good wrist protection

fairtex cons: not much padding
a bit more expensive

twins pros: good padding
more affordable than fairtex
hand pocket a bit more snug than fairtex

twins cons:
a bit large (12 oz twins is about the same size as fairtex 16 oz)
they take longer to wear in than fairtex
quality can be a bit inconsistent (i've had 3 pairs of twins run through me and they al felt different)

phenom when you say that the Fairtex gloves dont have a lot of padding, are you talking in terms of knuckle protection or protection for your sparring partner? I was interested in picking up a pair for bag/pad work but if the knuckle protection is poor I might look someplace else.

Knuckle protection is good for bag/pad work.. padding isn't as good as twins if you're gonna use them for sparring...

Excellent assessment. Very accurate, and well phrased.

I appreciate the advice, Mark. I've received the Fairtex gloves (14 oz BGV-1) and I'm very pleased by how they feel and fit. They are quite small and compact, the hand compartment is snug (for me anyway). Although the Twins have a more tight fit, the Twins have lots and lots of padding and because of that they get pretty big. To each his own, I guess. I prefer smaller gloves.
Oh, the leather of the Fairtex gloves also feels really nice, it's very smooth and it doesn't have that distinctive smell the Twins have. I've had those for a few weeks and they still have that smell. I don't really mind though. Anyway, thanks again I probably wouldn't have ordered these if it wasn't for you guys. Definitely worth the higher price!

Enjoy your fairtex gloves guys... honestly, the only brand that I ever loved aside from fairtex is KO fightgear...
