Icon14 Fairtex BGV1N "Nation Print" Gloves Review w/ Photos.

FAIRTEX # BGV1N TRAINING GLOVES with NATION PRINT. RED/ BLACK. 16oz.

Manufacturer's Description:

These all-purpose training gloves are perfect for bag and pad work. The wrap around hook and loop wristband is easy to use and designed to provide a better fit for greater comfort and control. Evenly distributed padding protects your entire hand and creates a tight and compact design.

Handmade in Thailand.
Top grain leather shell.
Shock-absorbing, high-density foam core.
Thumb attached for added safety.
Limited Edition Glove Print.

Price: $89.95.

Purchased from Fairtex at fairtex.com (USA location).

About Purchase:

Fairtex responded to my pre-purchase email inquiries and questions, promply and with polite detailed answers to my questions. Placing an order online was smooth and efficient. Website is well laid out and item size, color, and stock availability is shown. Confirmation email was sent within 24 hours, and purchase was promptly shipped. Item was received within 2-3 days, and well packaged. Shipment included free extra items such as (1) Fairtex decal, and (2) Fairtex Muay Thai Thailand CD's which showed Fairtex Bangplee in Thailand, and some training / fighting content.

About Product:

The gloves arrived well packaged in the original factory plastic bag, and initial impressions were that these are really nice muay thai gloves. The gloves are professional grade, and the design, material, and workmanship are high quality. The smooth full grain, high quality leather has a very durable feel to it. The BGV1 model gloves are an all-purpose training glove, that has a triple layer padding design, that is suitable for bag, pads, and sparring work. The padding is firmer than a pure sparring glove, but something that I noticed is that the new BGV1N model glove has slightly softer leather, slightly softer padding, and slightly more padding in the wrist area, when compared to an older pair of BGV1 model gloves that I own. The stitching is high quality, and it is reinforced in all stress areas.

The nation print graphics are well done and pleasing to the eye, and are much nicer when seen in person, than they appear on the Fairtex website. The internal lining is a soft, smooth, satin material, and should be slightly cooler in warmer environments. The glove fits very well, and making a fist feels very natural, even though this model does not have a grip bar or hose. It has an attached thumb design for safety, but it is easier than a "western style boxing glove" to open the mitt part of the glove to facilitate the "clinch" movement. This model has a more compact internal hand compartment design than the BGV4 model, and is a short cuff version with a velcro wrap around loop that provides excellent wrist support and protection.

I would say that while these gloves are at the higher end price range for muay thai gloves, these are exceptionally nice, well made gloves, that the dedicated muay thai enthusiast would be very pleased to own. And, certainly well worth the current price of $89.95.

I had a recent conversation with a professional muay thai fighter who lives in Thailand, and he described Fairtex gloves as the "Rolls Royce" of muay thai gloves, and I would have to whole heartedly agree.

I would rate these gloves as a 5/5 stars on overall quality, design, features, and price.

I hope that this review was helpful.

Wow, that would be a tough choice, since they are both such great gloves, just different. I guess if it were for muay thai it would be the Fairtex, and for a pure sparring striking application, it would be the Rivals. Although, keep in mind that Rival does make the RS2's which is a short cuff version.

Ha! I refuse to answer that before I check to make sure that I am not violating some local ordinance, concerning how many pairs of gloves you can legally own for personal use.

Thanks for the positive comment. I posted a review for the Rival RS1 Pro Sparring Gloves w/photos in this section. If you scroll down to the last photo that I put in that thread, it will show a side by side comparasion of the Fairtex BGV1, Title Pro Super Bag Gloves, and the Rival RS1 Pro Sparring Gloves (Long Cuff). So, as far as overall size and length, it gives a good shot of the short, regular, and long cuff version of gloves. I hope this helps.

I've wanted these gloves since I saw them on net months ago. Still not available in UK tho. Great review will definitely be getting them.
