Why would you put up with those problems on a $300 gi when you would pitch a fit on a $100 gi with the same problems. In the 80s people would put up with shit shift gates on certain Italian cars that they would never put up with on a lesser priced German car. I don't understand why anyone would accept less quality for more money. Send it back and get two Atama gis.

Hey guys,

Don't get me wrong, I am extremely aggravated about these problems but I think what's kinda blinding me is the fact that I've been wanting this Gi for sooooo long. It's like someone dreaming about owning a Ferarri all their lives and finally getting it only to discover flaws... But then they don't care cause they finally got what they wanted.

FightPlanet.ca has been VERY helpful thus far and has responded to my email about my situation. They've read this review and is actually going to give me a call later today. Very responsible company, never experienced this type of great service before. We'll see how this pans out.

Man, the problems you report with the gi sound weird. I mean, one problem, maybe a manufacturing dedect. That would raise an eyebrow in itself. But you have a small list of rather wanton defects. I have never had a single problem with my platinum, at less than half the price. Someone should be exchanging that gi for a new one, if nothing else.

I'd contact the manufacturer and send it back for a new one. You have a valid complaint on durability for such an expensive gi and I'm sure they would be willing to work with you.

Quick Update

So I got word back from FightPlanet.ca, Riccardo (i think the owner) was generous enough to replace the pants free of charge. What can I say about that! That's awesome. A real standup guy and great businessman. Surely going to purchase most of my gear from these guys.

It's pretty early in the game to really give a definate overview of how the gi will hold up over time.

Right now, I'm thinking this may be one of those isolated cases where there were some manufacturing defects. In any case, I'm getting the pants replaced free of charge and I'm more than happy to hear that.

Well that's good. Aside from the skirt rip, any other problems with the top?

(Not that I have 300 bux to blow on a gi, just interested in gi dramas)

BJJ_addiction,

Ricardo from Fight Planet contacted me about your problems with the gi pants. I am really sorry to hear about them tearing on you. It seems we got a bad batch of pants from china and we are working to resolve them. We have pulled all our black lucky gis and we are replacing all the pants. We are not sure what happened to them I think we got some bad fabric.

I have put about 5 years in to designing and manufacturing these gis, i have been to factories in Brazil, Pakistan, and China to get them made. I thought i was working with the best, but it seems they slipped up on us.

We are working hard to get the problem fixed. I have new pants being made right now and everyone who bought a black lucky gi from this batch will get a new pair of pants sent to them free of charge.

We are sending you a new pair of pants out today with some free dvds and other stuff.

Again i am sorry you got your ferrari and it broke down on you.

If anyone has any problems with their lucky gi please email me personally at Scotty@OntheMat.com

thanks,

Scotty

Will you actually reply to e-mails now? or do you guys at OTM just ignore all e-mails from people overseas wanting to purchase?
