CSI Shin-Instep Guards (PIC’S)

MMA Amateur Grappling Shin-Instep Guards
Style: SIG 1

I’ve had these for about 6 months and wow they look like garbage now. My first impression was it had a nice tight fit so they would slide around and they wasn’t overly padded so I can feel when I kick someone. But, after using them they just became a huge pain in the ass and started falling apart.

Pro’s
- Snug fit
- Not overly padded
- Descent design
- Price

Con’s
- A bitch to get on and off
- Poor construction (ripping seams, not symmetrical)
- Inadequate material
- coloring come off on other equipment

I score it a 7/10
I expected better from CSI

Ripped

I have guys that have the same problem. Especially the guys with big ankles. They tend to rip in that area. To much of a pain to take on/off. We just use regular shin pads now.

They should have kept the neoprene on the calf only.

Yeah, mine will probably end up the same. You have to shave your legs for them to come off easily. Sweat + Hair = stuck on.

I find the hassle putting them on and taking them off to be worth not having them slip around in training.

i've come to learn that CSI quality isn't all that great.

PROTIP: stay away from any of their IMF line. it's nothing but paper-thin leather and poor stitching that falls apart.

also, anything they make with neoprene doesn't seem to want to stay on or together.

just my two cents.

That may be true, but is there anything better for shin protection that doesn't slip off during grappling?

this and some sports tape. I've used it before and it works pretty good. think of it as a poor mans solution.
