haha, very true, but not everyone can carry. and most people can't shoot for shit, and this is with no pressure at the range... when the shit hits the fan i would really hate to see it go down, that is why the firearms company invented the high capacity mags.

I certainly see your point, but I think as long as it is done tactfully and without anti-law enforcement sentiment, it's OK.
But I certainly don't mind you voicing your opinion.

He never said he was anti-law enforcement. He was just implying that he had tried to kill a cop and his knife didn't make it through the vest.

going through a bullet proof kevlar vest mostly means slipping between the woven material, and if nessisary cutting a few of those fibers. a thin, sharp stiletto type blade, or a spike would probably be ideal. the 'california ice pick test' is one of the major hurdles for stab ( technically puncture in this case) resistance.
a knife / point is very diffrent to a bullet, and most US vests only aim to defend agains bullets in order to be as comfertable ( and therefore worn more) as they can. adding stab resistant makes a vest much stiffer and heavier.
here in the UK knives are the main threat, and so dual or stab only vest are common, especially with bouncers.
at the end of the day, a vest covers only so much of the body though, hence most of the stabbings on police you hear of being in the leg / femoral artery.

most class 3 ballistic armor cannot stop a direct blade....anything sharp and over 2 inches will work

I have both types of vests, those that will stop knives and those that will stop only bullets. The one designed for knives has chain-mail armor over the kevlar. I love wearing bullet-proof vests; I virtually collect them. I think I own six right now...you can never be too careful.

jesus man....six?
I know what you mean though. I was able to do most of my operations with nothing but my stripped down IBA ( no delt armor) and digis. I miss wearing that shit.

Very true. As someone who might possibly end up in law enforcement in the future, I hate the freaking anti-cop threads. This guy is obviously retarded...he want to try to stab a cop through the vest...this is stupid for so many reasons, but I'll name two.
1) Cops have guns. Guns > Knives (obviously).
2) Why stab through the vest? I'm not trying to sound like a sick, demented sob, but the best stab wounds are to the neck and throat.
Let's pretend the OP is in the military, and let's also pretend he has to deal with guys wearing vests in possible H2H situations. I'm a huge fan of Gerber blades (tactical folders mainly), and I'd say that their Silver Trident would be overkill for the job. A 3-4 inch blade would be plenty, so tactical folders are in...I bought my Gerber at Wal-Mart (I got the FAST), and it's awesome.
