Thinking about training JKD and Filipino styles

I have trained bjj, muay thai kickboxing, mma, etc. Now I want to know how to fight with no rules cause you never know what happens in the street. And I just saw "Taken". Are Filipino Kali and JKD good arts to go with?

Kali is good, it has a foundation, it has hundreds of variations and really qualified people...

JKD is suspect, Bruce Lee's original students taught it and no one can determine if Bruce taught them enough to make it a fighting system.

My core is 'FMA Guy', and I think it's like everything else: How it's trained is the most important thing.

Some instructors will have you standing there doing stick patterns for hours, others aren't happy 'til someone is bleeding on the mat.

My own current blend is sort of a Modern Arnis/****ao/Judo blend. We haven't done any weapons drills in months because it's a small group and the majority of us prefer to work empty hands (Local knife laws are pretty absurd to begin with, and I don't see myself pulling a knife on someone ANYway...).

JKD is a pretty broad range. Some places are basically FMA-flavored MMA all the way down in quality to 'Got my Instructor's Certification on Ebay'.

As far as 'Fair Fights' go, I end up looking more like Muay Thai with Kali footwork.

Down and dirty, my car key and chain make a suspiciously servicable (albeit dull) karambit.

JKD all depends on who is teaching it. If you learn from an Inosanto intsructor then you will learn the JKD core and numerous different arts incorperated within it such as Muay Thai, BJJ, SIlat, CSW, Kali, Sambo, Judo, etc..
As far as Travtex's comments on instructors doing stick patterns for hours some well known instructors do this because that is how they learned. Tuhon Gaje of Pekiti Tersia said he did footwork patterns when he first started for 8 hours a day everyday. Again with Kali it all depends on what you would like to learn most and what school you are a part of. Also it's suprising to see a kun tao (edit: came up ****ao) practitioner not do knife drills maybe you need to diversify your Kali training if you're not training all aspects of the art.

If you need help with JKD instructors or Kali instructors I'd be happy to help. I dont check the forums often so message me and I'll get back to you.
